Car not the same AFTER ECU TSB reflash :(

Well i was having symptoms of the TSB when break you have a small (lower tha 500) rpm increase. It always bothered me but never really affected me. So i took it in anyway so they can upgrade my ECU.

next day i get my car back and that does not happen anymore, but now my car seems to be SLOWER!!!!

Usually from a dead stop when i punch it i burn some rubber and im off. Very responsive. now it feels like its laggy and theres not the same power. once i do get going it is the same. but from simply punching the gas when at low speed or a stop its very different.

Is this because my car needs to "Re Learn" my driving habbits. I doubt it because even the first day of having my car and tested it didn't feel like this.

It has been half a fuel tank since this has been going on and still no difference.

What does everyone think?!?!?

Give it a week or two... The car will need to "relearn" your habits for sure. Not sure how long this takes, but before going off and telling the dealer it's not right, give them the benefit of the doubt and give it some time.

give it a week or two as BJ said above. if at that time it still does not act like you're used to, just perform an ECU reset by either the pedal method or leaving the negative battery terminal off overnight (or just a few hours should work).

No... Small population. Check TSB subforum or TSB doc.

agree. Give it time to "relearn." You might have the break-in period again from an ECU stand point. After a couple of weeks, if it's the same, take her back!!

Did they just reflash your ECU or did they install a new ECU? I was told by my dealership when I called to get my ECU number that they had 3 versions of my ECU. Same ECU for my car but upgraded or made better somehow.

I don't have an answer to your problem, but the consensus answer of "give it time" doesn't make any sense to me. I got my car with 8 miles on it, so it didn't have time to "learn" anything beforehand. But it certainly shouldn't be sluggish after ECU work. Then again my car is a 6MT not an automatic so maybe that's a moot point. Do you know if it was reprogrammed or replaced? Possibly not the same variant was used if it was replaced, check the part number.

BTW, your thread title is very misleading, it wasn't an "ECU Upgrade". I was looking for info from Technosquare, Cobb, AAM or one of the other vendors who actually reflash the ECU to upgrade it, yours is simply a replacement or reflash to original configuration.

So you're saying that the ECU dynamically creates maps?

Try an ECU reset.. If anything it should feel 'fast' compared to whatever you were driving while it was down.
