Rattle Upon Shutoff

Do any of your G's almost give a slight quiet rattle as the last sound after you shutdown. Is this normal? I'm thinking a heatshield may be loose.

If your car is a 6MT, this is 100% normal. Next time you shut your car off, push the clutch in, THEN shut it off. Voila, gone.

you would have to push in the clutch if you are putting it into gear and shutting it off. if not, the car would jerk forward. i get that same sound too.

Me too. It's less noticable with the clutch in. Glad you asked as I had the same question.

For me (5AT) it's the exhaust that gets the last sound in.

I always shut my car off when the clutch is in. Push the clutch in, put it into first and hit the button. Done

The 3 series has the same sound when shutting down. They clutch in when shutting down also.

Is it bad to shutoff in neutral with no clutch? Never heard that one before but I am not a professional. Also sometimes after a spirited drive I am noticing the flywheel being extra loud in neutral. Like the sound on shutoff but if I push the clutch in it goes away. I hope I dont have something wrong wiht it. Thanks for the input guys
