Service Call: Chatter,clutch click,chirp

So I decided to finally go into the dealer and get my car checked out. I'm getting the following 3 issues checked:

1) In first or second gear (6mt) let off of gas and the car starts to slow, depress the clutch, take it out of gear, release the clutch, and you get a loud audible chatter somewhere nearby the clutch. If you equalize the rpms with gas, it doesn't do it. I noticed many people had the same issue, never heard anything about getting it fixed though.

2). Good ole chirp in the rear differential/axle. Told him to retorque it to the spec 177ft/lb and to re lube it, as per someone on this forum with the same issue. I only had this chirp come up 3-4 times in 1400 miles, but thats 3-4 too much.

3.) The clutch click, whether intentional or not, someone on here got it fixed to where it doesn't make the noise anymore. The click doesn't do me any good. The only thing I can see it being used for (by the car) is the turning the car on. The car won't let you start until you go past the click spot on the clutch, at which point it recognizes the clutch is depressed. IMO, they shouldn't need an audible clutch click sound that your passenger can hear.

I'll let you know what they do to fix these problems or what line they try to feed me to say its normal....

They better hear or feel something or I'm going to make them HEAL or FEEL something, right smack dab in their noses.

That is why I specifically told him to reqtorque the rear end to 177 and relube it. That problem is hard to reproduce. However the clutch click and the clutch chatter coming out of 1st/2nd is easy to reproduce and I told him exactly how to do it.

Sucks it just started snowing like nuts here, my poor g37 is going to hate going home in that crap.

UGH:
So they retards at the service department call me and tell me they can't reproduce any of the clutch chatter or chirp in the rear end and won't drive it around in the snow on their lot. F'in figures, where do I pay you the $20?? lol

I told the guy I was upset with them not being able to reproduce the clutch chatter considering it does it every 100% of the time when you get out of 1st or 2nd for me and are decelerating. He also said until he hears the chirp in the rear end, even though he knows what is causing it and the g35coupe/sedan both have the issue, he won't replace or fix anything in the rear end without hearing it on my car first. Thats such bull****.

He also said that the clutch click is a "stop" that is put in there intentionally, I believe that is probably correct, considering the car doesn't start until you get past that click point.

I'm considering calling up infiniti and complaining about the service at this particular dealership. If he and I both know where the problem is coming from and he doesn't fix it b/c he can't reproduce it, even though there are documented cases with similar rear ends, I think that is horrible service. This isn't a ford/chevy.

I told him I'm going to reschedule on a nicer day and come in there and show the shop foreman the clutch clatter I was talking about that I gave specific instructions on how to reproduce. I also asked for documentation or a rep from infiniti to show me proof the clutch is supposed to click when you press/depress it. I hate dealerships and their ****ty *** service, I would expect better from infiniti, but I guess that is too much to ask for a 40,000 dollar car.

HAHAHAHA LOL I take Paypal jk!!

But seriously, from experience, that's what happens, EVERYTIME! Unless it's undoubtably noticeable, they won't hear anything and they're certainly not going out of the way to find it!!

Well hopefully they can figure it out on a better day.. If you want go test drive another car and see if you can feel/hear it.. Has anyone else posted a problem like that before? I have an AT so can't help you and I wouldn't remember a thread/post about that.

Very true!! that was what happened to my previous G35C. There was a burning smell from the car after I drove it and the dealership also smelled it. After a day of inspection they were assuming it's coming from the clutch or the flywheel and the funny thing is they were asking $580 to take everything apart to just inspect the problem! then I told them the smell doesn't smell like burning clutch so I asked them to re-inspect the rear where the exhaust pipe is. Bingo! the transmission fluid was leaking all the way to the exhaust pipe that was why there is always a burning smell!
Also like what DiamondGCoupe said, I've complained the chattering/griding gears/chirp sounds many many times and the answer is always "it's normal"!

So it turns out they scratched up my $300 intelligent key. I already called the service manager and told him my first experience with them was horrible. I told him how I dictated exactly what was wrong with the car, and exactly to the dot how to reproduce it, just to find out at the end of the day the guy paraphrased what I said and didn't write it down correctly, thus the reason they couldn't duplicate it.

He proceeded to tell me they are paid for what they fix, so they try their hardest to find the problem and reproduce it. So I then told him, "So, it would then be in your BEST interest to make sure your TECHS write the correct instructions down when the customer says it, not to paraphrase so no one but the guy that wrote it will be able to do it. Not to mention the guy who writes it forgets what the original customer said after 5 minutes anyway". I basically let him know I was very dissatisfied with his service department and that from now on, when I go in, I am demanding a foreman get in the car with me so I can show them the problems and not have an incompetent tech take scribbly notes on what I say.

Now I have to call him again to let him know I want a brand new intelligent key. I shouldn't bring my car or any part of my car in and expect it to be returned to me with scratches that are deep. If they do that to my key, what are the chances they scratch my body while doing work on it? Pretty high. I'm very upset with this "luxury" dealership and the way they treated me my first visit....
