why is it hard to shift from first to second gear in my g ? ,, hmm the other gears are fine ,, its just that i could not get it perfectly shift smoothly from the said gear ,,, it always give me that "nice little jerk" annoyinnngg

 

It's nomal, just the way the 6MT is geared. If you ease out of the clutch a little more gradually it helps some, but it's still going to be the roughest shift in the gearbox. The price we pay for having cool manual trannies.

 

Its smooth once you figure it out and get used to releasing your clutch better.

 

^yeap exactly i had a hard time driving smooth when i first got the car.
ull get used to it and it wouldnt be as rough

 

yeH Actually im way smoother now with shifting,, i've been driving manual traNs. for years ,, and believe me the g is the hardest car thave ive driven ,, the thing is i just pay so much emphasis with the second gear compared to the others

 

I agree. No matter how much experience you have driving manual transmisions in general or the G specifically, the 1-2 shift in this gearbox is by far the roughest of them no matter how good a driver you are. Repetition and a steady clutch foot help, but it will never be smooth unless you are riding the hell out of the clutch.

 

Taking it to about 5000RPM or more helps when shifting to.

 

i noticed its very hard to put the car into first nd second gear. is it just me? not the acutal shift just to get the car in gear.

 

I rev to about 3000-3500rpm in 1st then ease into 2nd at about 2000rpm and it's pretty smooth for me.

first and second gear are vertually the same, try starting out in second gear, you dont need to start in first gear. i had the same problem and started to start in second gear and i dont have to worry about the jerky shift from first to second try it next time.

 

I hear thats really bad for your clutch. I wouldn't suggest doing that all the time with the car stopped. I do it occasionally when the car is in a slow roll and it locks me out of first, but never from a dead stop.

 

Why is it bad for the clutch?

 

i hve no idea i was informed by experts that using 2nd gear to start off in was just fine if i did not want to hot rod my car. 1st and 2nd gear are gear so close to each other it does not make a difference... if anybody knows otherwise please inform us all please..

 

You will have to slip the clutch more to get moving in second..
