Can u all teach me how to paddle shift my G37S?
That explains alot...although there are quite a few drivers younger than that here that know how an automatic works. I'm still in awe here at the question...what exactly did your salesman tell you about the Journey model? I'm not trying to be offensive here, but something seriously went wrong with understanding the specs of the car.
I think he has a question on "paddle shifting." We all know he has an automatic but I think he wants to know how to use the paddle shifter safely and how it might increase the performance of the car. Since I have a 6mt, I cannot answer you and I have never owned a car with paddle shifters. Maybe someone on here, without an attitude, with a sport automatic can give you a guide on how to correctly use the paddle shifters. I know there was a previous post on how to get better shifting out of the paddle shifters but I haven't searched for that. Try a search. Seriously people, people come here for advice. Help them out if you can. There is no need to badger someone for asking a question you might find stupid. Not everyone has the same experience you might have with cars....
so I don't need to use the floor pedals to shift?.... Ur gonna have to explain this to me step by step! I'm new to the up n down shift world u kno?!
So press tha gas pedal till rpm reaches 3k then upshift one time?... but I thought redline was 7,800? can't I take it up to that then shift? I'm not a sunday driver u kno!
Now what is down shifting? is that coming to a stop? when or at what rpm can I down shift?

KrazyJ, you've got an interesting mindset for an average G37 owner......
Anyway, BS or not.....You don't need to do anything differently with your footwork when using the paddle shift. Just drive it normally like how you would with an automatic. Gas/break with your right foot (unless you're left handed, in which case, you must gas with your left and break with your right while maintaining the same pattern for steering arms). There's no clutch, but I think you've already figured that out.
Yes you don't have to shift at 3k, you can shift at 7k rpm if you want. Don't redline it (duh). When someone mentioned something about bouncing the needle off the limiter, he meant don't push the RPM so high to the point where the tach needle is hitting/bouncing off the little plastic stopper at the end of the tachometer redline.
Try down shifting when you're slowing down. It should rev match for you. Just play around with it and don't take it over 120mph again.
