I heard about 200lbs from my dealer.

That alone made me drop it. I don't need the equivalent of another person in my car.....

Getting every optin but the 4WAS.

I heard between 150 to 200 lbs and yeah that in itself made me not consider it. Your gains are offset by the weight. I do more straight line accelerating than twisties. And the car already handles well enough with the sport suspension without the 4WAS system- better than my curent G which is a very good handling car already.

yeah exactly...I heard some people say they would like better handling at 120MPH. I think I'd prefer better handling <120, speed to 120, and be more nimble. I think -200lbs would edge the gap between the 335i and the G37.

Weight is a factor for sure.
Cost is really not a factor when its worked into your financing. What...a couple bucks more a month.
If it's like the 06 07 G35 RAS (rear active steering), better steering ratio, speed sensor activated, etc, etc., its worth the handling improvement imo.
Have RAS on my 06 and have used it and love it.

granted this is a comparison between old nissan tech and new, but going from my old N/A Z without 4-wheel steering and into a Twin Turbo, I didn't notice much more stability or improved handling.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it, either. It seems to reduce predictability in turns and varies the threshold where the rear end steps out.

However, I don't think it weighs 200 lbs. Do you guys have any sources for that? I read somewhere that it weighs about 25 lbs (I searched briefly for that reference but couldn't find it). If it weighed 200 lbs, we'd see the test cars weighing in at 3900 lbs in reviews. Well even the mags that weighed the cars with 4WAS didn't report weights anywhere near that high.

Can someone who has it look on the inside of their door and give us the vehicles gross weight and them someone who does not can do the same and then we may be able to get an idea of the weight difference.

I'm not sure I'd want it. or at least I'd want the ability to turn it off. Especially if it is activated only at certian speeds, with a certain amount of wheel turn, and the wheel is turned quickly. That makes predictability most impossible.

I have "traction control" on my current car and it's a PITA. The other day I'm at a stop sign turning at an intersection... not much space so I have to boogy... I spin the wheels a bit and it backs the power off to almost zero, leaving me half in the intersection wondering what happened.

ABS, on the other hand, is a nice electronic aid.

The traction control is much better on the new G than the old systems. It is not all or none, no abrupt throttle cut. Much more tolerable to have it on.

I almost got run over once ( in my 350z ) on dry pavement turning left in front of a truck. More than enough space for the power I had, but the outer wheels rotating faster than the inner wheels made the car think it was sliding and it cut the throttle to zero.

The G37 doesn't seem to be so harsh. It modulates the power much better and seems to know that I am turning and not spinning out.

As far as the AWS, I didn't get it, and don't seem to need it. The car has speed sensitive steering anyway, which is hard enough to get used to.

4656 is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, which is Is the maximum recommended weight for a vehicle, including: the weight of the vehicle itself, fuel and other fluids, passengers, and all cargo.
3624 is Base Curb Weight(5AT) for the which is Is the weight of the vehicle including a full tank of fuel and all standard equipment. It does not include passengers, cargo or any optional equipment.
