How do I tune my g37 to get rid of the throttle lag?
Hi,
New to the forum..
Will a tune fix the throttle lag? If so, which one/how?
I want to make absolutely sure before spending the money. Extra HP/TQ is a plus, but fixing this throttle lag is my main concern. Thanks.
A tune can def improve/ get rid of the lag in throttle response.
I have a CBE, drop in air filters w/ Mishimoto tubes, and FI RHFC... no tune bc I didn’t think it was worth it yet with those bolt on mods.
however I did purchase and install a hypertech tune, this allowed me to greatly improve throttle lag and increase a few HP (supposedly) bc the tuning device allowed me to change some settings to the ECU.
here’s the link to the hypertech programmer, I’m selling it.
also feel free to PM if you need any advice or have questions about throttle response w/o having to get a tune. I was in your very shoes years ago.
im fortunately able to get a tune now bc I have more bolt ons modded to the car.
^ Is this all I need to buy to have everything I need? There's no other stuff I need that doesn't come in that package?
2. I'm mainly looking to get a tune to fix the throttle lag these G's are known for. The only mod I have is some KN filters... so I'm not seeing a point in wasting money with data logging and and remote tune. Am I correct in my thinking? Is the "in-house" tune you get decent enough to fix the throttle and give me crisp shifting like the old G35's had?
1 yes that's all you need and no
2. Buying this kit means you are going to tune it yourself? This is software that let's you over ride the cars computer which a protuner should only do IMO.
3.my advice is to take it to a actual tuner to have the work done thier and you can buy the kit with him. 200$ most for the tune plus the 750 for Ecutek. it will be worth the 950.
Gotcha brother, thank you. I had another question:
I heard Ecutek locks your ECU? Is this going to be a problem if I take the car into a dealer or mechanic in the future?
I only have KN drop ins, and I'm not planning to do any more modding, so I'm not very concerned about any "re-tuning". Just worried about basic dealer/mechanic repairs that might come up... will the ECU lock interfere with that stuff in any way?
It shouldn't unless the tuner himself puts a lock on it. Few people due that so you have to go back to them in the future so they can get more money or they just don't want other people looking at thier tune.
just ask the tuner about not locking it .it shouldn't be a problem
Just make sure if you do have car problems and you take it to a dealership to be careful for them not to erase the maps you have on your car ECU after the tune
What I meant was using their "Off-The-Shelf (Pre-made tune based on our in-house tuning)" instead of having a custom tune. Would you recommend that? Is that still the same as me tuning it myself? Wanted to clarify that. This is what it says on the website:
Desired Tune
Off-The-Shelf (Pre-made tune based on our in-house tuning)
Custom (Through data logging, talored to your vehicle) + $200.00
Turbo or Supercharger (Custom through data logging, talored to your vehicle) + $300.00
I would recommend it seeing that what you are looking for is more like a trasmission performance upgrade.
Give them a call ,they are very helpful in answering the questions you have, speaking from experience. Ask them if that will help with your transmission shifting point as certain rpms. They will point you in the right direction
I was having throttle lag so I took my g37 in to Infiniti. They said I have low voltage on one of the pedal sensors... but since I had a Pedal Commander, I just assumed that was the problem and opted not to pay for a new pedal. I've had my Pedal Commander taken out for some time now.
I recently got the Ecutek package. I haven't had the tune yet, but I was looking at basic logging stuff on the app with the OBD plugged in. I'm afraid it matches what the technician wrote on the report. The way the technician wrote the write up is a little confusing though. Can someone knowledgeable help me understand if I need a new pedal?
Here are some pictures: The 1st one is what the technician wrote. The second 2 are some logs. I'm thinking if I have a problem w/ the pedal, I should take care of that before I tune. Thanks in advance.
