308 WHP with a catback and drop-in filters?

So if you run that through a HP calculator like this one: https://www.mk5cortinaestate.co.uk/calculator4.php

...that translates to 361 Brake HP, which is a 33 hp increase over factory. Does that even make sense, to get a 33 hp gain on a 9 year old car, untuned, with just a catback?

BTW, good to see you here again, Zack. You and I happened at the same time here, with the same cars, both coming from Maxima.org, also with the same cars. And strangely enough, we both have the identical current mileage on our G's. Actually, I have 45k, but anyway, so many coincidences.

Don't mustang dynos read a bit higher? If so, those numbers make more sense.

BTW there is a dyno section that you should post this in.

I thought I did post in the dyno section, apologies. I am not sure about the dyno differences or if these gains makes sense on 9 year old untuned car but these numbers are in alignment, albeit slightly higher than my dyno from 2014 with the same mods. Those runs were on a dynojet. In the last 6 years the things done were Infiniti installed a new transmission and clutch at 27k for the 5th gear synchro issues and just oil changes. The car also has about 18k more than it did in the 2014 dyno when it made 299.60whp and 247.17wtq so maybe the motor loosened up?

Doesn't make sense to me either but that's what it made, it made 299.XXwhp back in 2014 at that time I just assume the dyno read high, but now I am not so sure.

I could see the catback netting you 9 hp untuned. That's totally reasonable.

Don't forget the K&N drop ins lol.
I'm not really sure what to say other than I'll probably find another dyno and redyno it again at some point in the future so maybe if that reads lower it'll be more believable.

But so far it put down 299WHP on a dynojet in 2014 and 308WHP on a mustang in 2020, in either case, the car feels amazing I enjoy driving it whatever the power level is.

Both dynos were with the same mods? Then yeah that makes sense with the higher mustang dyno numbers. Still healthy numbers for untuned.

Yeah just the Fast Intentions CBE in both dynos.

Good numbers and probably within range but comparing 2 different dynos on 2 different days is meaningless and it sure doesn't help not having a baseline on the same dyno.

Numbers could be a bit high but not by much. I believe it is making that.
If you see the AFRs from both (if they're correct) you'll see you're running a bit leaner than the stock run due to the filters. 14:0 at wot is lean and should yield better numbers once tuned.
If you go down this road please document as theres not that much info on full tunes involving stock boxes and drop ins.

I do have a baseline dyno from when the car was bone stock on the same dyno jet.
It made 288whp /249wtq stock on the same dynojet I redynoed in 2014.
Here is the link to that post.

Will do. The next mod I'd consider is the fast intentions longtube headers but plan to keep the stock intake setup.
