tune?
tune?
I'm fairly new to modding and am a little confused on the whole tuning issue. For what it's worth, I have an '08s 6mt with R2C intakes, AAM hfc's, and just put on Tanabe axel back's (which I love the sound of). I've reset the ecu whenever I put on one of the mods above. I figured that was all I needed to do.
Will a dyno tune really do anything additionally for me? I auto x a Miata (stock), so the G is strictly my cruising around car (albeit it spirited at times). Am I missing something here? Will I even be able to tell a difference before/after a tune? Is it worth it for someone like me? Help!

A tune will take advantage of the parts you've added. More air in, more power...usually. But you'll also gain some enhanced characteristics (better throttle response, earlier fan kick on, maybe even pick up some MPG, etc.). Will it be an "OMG I have mad powerZ y0" difference? Nope, you'll only see that on boosted car. Your tune options are currently UpRev and EcuTek.
A tune (doesn't have to be on a dyno, you can do almost as good and a lot cheaper with datalogs) will optimize the fuel delivery and such making it more efficient, more responsive, and maximizing your bang for the buck. With the HFC's and all you're really changing how much air is flowing through the engine and it will make a difference with the tune.
You also get the added benefit of map switching-- up to 5 maps that you switch through using the cruise control buttons
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

I forgot about that one, big benefit since the VQ37 tends to run hot from the factory.. keeps it cooler in traffic and during the summer. Good for the longivety of your engine
I'd stick with Uprev until ecutek can show us some proof that what they claim to be able to do (or is in development) is actually superior to what Uprev has been doing successfully for years

Here's what the "Pure Tuning" shop in Toledo (where I'm at) has on their website. Anyone know if this is a good deal/bad deal for what you get? Anything additional you have to buy?
UPRev Osirus Nissan NA- $450

The UpRev cable and version pricing are pretty set already and the price goes up based on if you want the shop/tuner to take care of things or if you want to control things yourself with the "tuner" version. Seymore4 can probably give you specific details based on what you want to do.

You don't need to buy anything extra when you get dyno tuned, they sell you the reflash license and then tune it on the spot, but keep in mind that you will not be able to reflash back to stock, reflash updates yourself, or perform any OBD2 diagnostics yourself.
Not really a discussion, just lots of guys waiting for them to provide some proof that they can really do what they are claiming to be able to do... Last I heard most of the features were still "under development"...
