Body Work

How long does bosy work usually take? I am referring to the fenders of the skyline. I am trying to get a ballpark timeframe on how long it takes to pull those dents and repaint them? Anyone body work savy and knows these things let me know.

A good body guy, 1 day, 2 days tops.

I had a big *** dent (actually 2 from 2 mishaps that luckily happened to the same spot on my car) in my rear fender repaired recently and Sewell (collision) had the dents out in less than a day and it was at the paint shop the second day.

I saw your pics and they did not look too bad, so I think 1 day for a good body guy that works hard. My fender looked worse than the pics I saw, but it was just the one side.

The experiences I've had with body is work ... full wetsand and repaint on my 95 3000GT VR4 took about 3 - 4 days. My junker car that I had in Chicago was vandalized and every panel on the car was keyed. I brought it to Maaco where they did the body work for all the key scratches and a full repaint in 1 day and I was very impressed by how good it came out for $600

Your skyline should be a one day job in and out.

Thanks for the help guys! In that case it looks like the whole car is finished by the end of next week. Allow another 3 or 4 days of titling and she is here. I didn't know body shops could work that fast.....Then again I really haven't had any body work done.

Yeah, I was surprised. I dropped my car off on a Monday and headed out of town, and on Tuesday afternoon I got a call that the body guy was done and it was off to paint. They started on mine on Tuesday morning.

They apperently work a lot harder/faster than I do .

Are you going to just paint the spots that are fixed, or the entire thing?

For now I am doing the panels that have been damaged.....I like the idea of original paint color and would likely not change the color, but repainting the car in the future is an option I am considering.

*On a side note.....It has now been close to 14 weeks or so since I first made the mention of the Skyline on these boards. At this point I know a lot of us are asking ourselves if in fact this friggin thing exists or not. I mean it seems to get pushed back further and further. But this car does exist I am not blowing sunshine up your a$$es on this one. I can say that my anticipation level is ridiculous and I am starting to get PO'ed that it isn't here yet. But reassuance to all. This unicorn of a car will be here sooner than later so if everyone can bear with me for a few more weeks I'll have something to show for this 14 weeks of hell.

That's cool, I like the original color too, it is my favorite on the R33.

Hey, eventually it would catch up to you, I am sure it exists. I am sure you can't wait, but it sounds like this has been an ongoing process anyway, and you knew it would take a while.

On another note, right before I headed to Ireland (two weeks ago), I saw a white R33 GT-R with temp. tags on 35. It seemed pretty beat up (about the shape yours in now), and I thought that was yours until I saw the pics. So, it looks like you have some growing company.

It was bought along with 3 other GTS-T's from Pheonix last week. I don't know how to post pictures on the site but I have the picture of the 4 of them loaded on the truck! It was a cool pic. That car is for sale along with the other 3. That GTR is a pile of crap. The 4WD light was on...it had 2 different kinds of wheels on it, it has an exhaust leak, it is running like 3 to 4 psi, there is a leak in the intercooler piping, it's running rich all the time, it is incredibly slow and whoever buys it will get a great deal up front but end up spending a ton of money in the long run fixing the problems. Additionally, it went to Mississippi a few days ago to get titled and then be put up for sale. The guy who was driving it owns a Black GTS-T skyline and lives in Addison.

I guess long story short, I am not worried about that car being in Dallas for long.

Yeah, it looked like a pile of crap. He was on it, and my wifes 4runner (me driving) had no problems keeping up. I also noticed the different wheels.

So, can you register just about anything in Miss?

How much is it selling for?

Not sure but they are entertaining offers. I think they want about 33 to 35K (high considering all the work that has to be done) But You can get a better one for less money than that. I mean geez that thing is a pile. (most likely it was run into the ground by the previous owner) Additionally, with the 4WD light on it would most likely be from really hard brake boosted launches and dropping the clutch at high rpm.....4 wheel burn outs etc. Not a pretty car.....anyone who buys it is paying for the name not the performance.
