I know some of you have listed your cars on E Bay in the past. Was it worth it?

I was considering listing mine on eBay but it's basically a one shot deal. You can list it for $40 for 7 days, $48 for 10 days, or $65 for 21 days. If it doesn't meet your reserve or buy it now you are eligible for a relisting credit if it sells the second time around. If it still doesn't sell then you are charged the relisting fee on top of the original listing fee. If a bid meets your reserve price or someone chooses buy it now then you are charged the sales fee (another $40?).

It kind of bit Randy in the @ss when he listed his on eBay and the first guy chose buy it now and then flaked. Randy was charged the listing and selling fees and would have had to wait for eBay to investigate before giving any credit for the sales fee and relisting fee. I'm not saying this is the norm but it's something to think about.

Think about selling it through Grubbs?

It's a % of the sale, not sure how much. But it NOT $40!

It'll probably cost you between $200-500 total if you sell your car for $60k i'm guessing something around there... shouldn't be too high... but definately more xpensive then selling in a newspaper or elsewhere

That's where I am getting confused. I have heard people say that it's a percentage of the sale and others say that it's a flat fee. I went to ebay's site for clarification but that made it worse.

I was considering one of those shops like I Sold It On EBay but I heard they charge an arm and leg. When I have some time I think I will pay them a visit.

I thought the rule of thumb was:

1) a modified car
2) value of car alone + (15-20% of actual cost of modifications) = total value

So if your car is currently worth 30K and you put 10 into it the total value is 32K? That is when you sell outside but if you give it to the dealship......they'll rob you blind but when you sell your 10K of mods then the percentage goes up to 40% i.e 8K aps tt kit a used one will go for 3200 approx.

Well I just researched again, and turns out for Ebay Motors you only get charged 2 fees. An insertion fee which would be $40 for your G and a Transaction Service Fee which would be another $40 for the G. So looks like if you sell it on ebay it only costs you $80, unless of course you add a few extra pictures and stuff but that is only chump change, so you will not pay more then $100 for selling a car on eBay.

Like I said ... $40 listing fee and $40 transaction fee but only if someone makes a winning bid do you get charged the transaction fee. Again, the listing fee will only get you a 7-day auction and that's it. It's not a "list until sold" like putting it auto trader...

I have an offer of 53k but I don't want to start pulling parts off the car to try to get more. I would like to keep her intact. I'm not in any big hurry to sell and I still have not listed her on Ebay or Auto Trader. Someone at work told me that's where he has had good lock selling his cars in the past.

Yeah, and the "G" will still be around...it'll just have BeerVipers_ in front of it instead of Randys_

Any reasonable person that would buy the car would really have to be into modding their car, and I think they would say "I can buy a new G35 and put 25K into it, and have it the way I want it."

I know you have put a lot of work into it, at this point you may be better off keeping it (although if you do that you are sure to loose quite a bit when the new models do come out). Regardless, good luck, if someone does buy it, they will have a nice ride without having to do any of the work.
+1, which is why I took such a killing in only getting $32k for mine. Premium 04 G with all the fixin's with another $17k invested. So the math goes, $57 with mods minus 32,000 miles and two year models equals $32k. Ouch!

WRONG. For passenger vehicles it's $40 to list and $40 when it sells.
