Aftermarket Alarm

I want to get an Aftermarket alarm. I'm looking At compustar and Viper 991. Anyone have any experience with these? Can anyone recommend a good installer/shop in Dallas?

I don't have either of these alarms but I do have the Python 880 remote start paging alarm with all the bells and whistles. I had Car Toys in Hurst do the install. I'm very picky when it come to letting people work on my car and I trust these guys a lot. I would highly recommend them. Plus if you are a DFW G35 Club member you will get a discount on the install and parts.

I agree with Robert on this one. I only let those guys work on my car. I am about to get one of the ridiculous alarms with gps tracking and the works to protect my baby no matter where it goes. The same goes for all my stereo stuff and, whenever it gets here, the first thing I am going to do to the Skyline is have them LOjack the Heck out of it. It says a lot when you keep bringing your cars back to the same installers.

Don't use lojack....there is a new technology called Guardian and it workes a hell of a lot better with GPS positioning and signal strength. Lemme find that info for you

Attaboy Hugh, do the right thing. I just have to have something that will know where it is at all times. The minute you get it you have to figure it has a huge steal me target painted on it.

Ted,

Juan, Robert and Jeff are the installers, I get the equipment from Steve who works inside. So I guess I would go ask for Steve and tell him I sent you and he'll be real nice and tell you to yell at me to come pick up my parts probably. But I haven't thought about alarms yet......This network thing or the Guardian thing Hugh mentioned. Both are good options and Lojack was kinda last on my list cuz the police use the Satellites that Lojack uses, so you really can't hide very well from them.

I know with lojack, if the car ISN'T inside a garage or warehouse, then they'll find it. My friend's car got stolen with lojack and it was stripped and was found after they dumped it. Only when the car is in the open then they can find. Guardian uses GPS technology so even if it is in a chop shop they can still find it.

In case there was any ongoing contraversy...Hugh is no officially ok. For those of you wondering, his offical classification is now OK. He has been upgraded from "Scum of the Earth" to OK. Make all appropriate notations on the matter and carry on.

After that comment, everyone make a new note....Hugh has officially been reclassified to "Paperclip" status. This classification is far worse than "Scum of the Earth." One more outburst from you young man and you'll be classified as "Less Intelligent Than an Ameba." Tread lightly my friend.
