I'm thinking about bolting up the JIC Y pipe to the stock exhaust since I have it now. Exhaust is still on the way. You think that's a decent idea, or do you think I should wait till the exhaust is in?

 

You can bolt an aftermarket Y-pipe to a stock exhaust, but it'll be a mismatch in pipe sizes 65mm to 80mm. It shouldn't hurt anything.
