Looks like my sister is evacuating Houston right now, so I probably won't be able to make it.

With the hurricane looming and evacuation flooding the highways, I'm going to urge those of you coming up to leave for OKC Friday night. I heard on the news that it took a guy 9 hours to drive 20 miles. Ofcourse he's going to Houston, but I'm sure others will be headed further north as well. I wouldn't wait until Friday morning to try and head up.

Nico, good idea...we'll start checking into the traffic reports and see how it looks tomorrow.

I'm watching the 5pm news and I don't like what I'm hearing. Lots of folks from Houston and Galveston say they are going thru Dallas to OKC because they heard that there aren't any local hotels left. I wonder what traffic will be like tomorrow and Sat. and for that matter, Sun for the ride back. Now I'm getting worried. What do you guys think? is it worth taking a chance?

Kelly and I were talking about it when I got home from work. He's been watching the news & weather, and he's not liking what he's seeing. He's leaning more towards not going. Which sucks since I've already paid! What do we do?!!!!!!!

I'm thinking about it twice also. Of course, it doesn't make it any better the fact that we'd be driving through a tornado prone area. I'm going to watch the news tomorrow AM and if the remnants are figured to take a north/north east turn where we don't get hit too bad then I may be in. If all that mess heads to OKC then I may be out. You lose out on $35 but you save gas and headaches of traffic. But then again, you miss out on an awesome show.

decisions...decisions

I agree. I plan to view the traffic and gas situation as well. They said yesterday that many stations along the highways were running out of gas. I don't feel like sitting on the side of the road with my wife and daughter trying to get a tow. We plan to make a decision some time Friday morning. Lets keep each other posted. I'd rather loose my registration fee and hotel reservation deposit than have to fix my car.

So far no traffic warnings on both the Tex DOT or OK Dot sites. Plus, I think OKC will be mostly dry. The drive back to dallas may have a few storms but nothing to be too concerned about I don't think. I'm hoping to leave tonight but I'll check as late as 6pm to see if the forecast changes.

Anyone else leaving tonight?
