DFWCC Meets on every 1st and 3rd Mondays
I agree that this place was hard to find. I had to call Dan because I couldn't find it.
As for the dirt roads I didn't see any of those, I followed the signs.
As for the $2, that was a surprise to me as well. DFWCC is trying to encourage membership that's why they were charging $2 to get in. Heck I have more change in my ashtray than that. Come on I can't believe that would cause heart ache.
Dan was not real happy with the location but it's very hard to find a place to hold these meetings. The lot was one of 5 there that we could use it holds about 300 cars.
Since I started attending these shows people have always arrived early. in fact 5 G's were there early, we all went to On the Boarder to eat then went back to the event. It's a Monday and many folks have to work on Tuesday so they come early and leave early.
I thought it wasn't bad for the first time at this venue, yes there is a lot more work to do and I will be helping Dan to try to improve for the next time. I liked it better at Hooters since there was food and drinks there if we wanted some. I would like to see it at some restaraunt but until then this is better than no place at all.
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the night and that we had to leave just as you were getting there. Hopefully it will only get better with time and experience.
What about you other guys that were there, how do you feel this event went?

Last night I was thinking that DFWCC main goal is to sell memberships and so they promoted a free event. After lets just say 100 cars went through and not one membership has been sold, they changed their venue to be $2 entry fee. How do I know? Because when I arrived there, I told them about being in the G35 club and it was stated that the event was free.....after telling Dan that, Dan asked me if I was joining tonight. Well, I was considering it and wanted to see the specific benefits of being in that club (basically discounts that I assumed that were in those $20 high school pass books with all those coupons) but he told me he doesn't have anything in writing yet but he was still pressing me for a membership while I was still in the car!
I understand that they have to pay for police, parking and stuff like that but when you promote a new venture and it doesn't go well, don't just change it last minute to your old ways to get your money back. I remember Costco and Hooters charging to get in and I didn't mind because that was what they were promoting, an entry fee. But when you promote fee to try to get memberships, you should honor that...just principles. I am not at a heartache about 2 bucks, but just the embarassment of not having 2 dollars, argueing about the 2 dollars, taking forever to find the place, inviting a fellow enthusiast and he couldn't get in because of misinformation, and the time wasted.
Don't get me wrong, I applaude Dan's effort in order to bring everyone together but I just believe that the other past venues were more worth while to meet enthusiasts because of the turnout and space.

As afr as the $2 charge goes, Dan told me that the police officer there was $40/hour and the dealership was supoose to have provided the pay for that but hadn't given him a check yet. So, we was trying to build the funds to pay the cop. I do agree that it was smaller than other DFWCC events, but it was the first one at this location and you should get there when it starts or earlier if you want to see all of the cars. When you showed up, half the cars had left already.

That explains it. I did not hear of any fee that's why when TwoK4drSi asked me I assumed it was free. I'm sure this will grow like it has in the past. Let's face it, we all want a place to meet and look at cars.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS. Sept 2nd, there are two events going on that will both meet up at the same place. The National FX club will be meeting for a full weekend of FUN. One of their adventures will bring them to the Texas Motorplex on Friday, Sept 2nd. I will be going directly to the drag strip to run with them but can not make the whole weekend. If anyone want to join either event (in its entirety or in part), sign up in the appropriate threads that are STICKIED.
