Clean those air filters!!!!!

So I decided to make use of my slow a$$ sunday and clean my K&N Filter for the first time in a year (slap on my hand for waiting so long). I have just a K&N filter and Z-tube installed. All I can say is DEAR LORD, OMG!!!! The amount of dirt that was CAKED...and I mean CAKED up on my filter was nasty! This was no ordinary dirt, it was like sand/dirt mixed, it was moist, almost of a "Wet sand" or drying mud texture. I can't believe the amount of crap that was built up on it. I'll try and get pics pf all the dirt I had to literally knock off the air filter. I couldn't shake it off, i had to bang it against the concrete to knock the dirt off. I've owned 5 cars with K&N filters I installed, and I never saw that much dirt anywhere on a filter. The only way I can think of how that much dirt got on it was the fact I work around a construction zone (Victory Park, around the American Airlines Center downtown). With the usual dirt on the filter I also found feathers and a dead bee!

While I had the filter box off, I decided to remove the lower air baffle as well under the air filter box....the sound improvement was so much better!

Yikes! So just a reminder to all out there, check and clean those filters...my poor baby was suffocating!

I just got my ztube + k&n and installed it Saturday. I can tell a big difference cuz the old one was filthy.

Gotta waking up and having a coat of Texas dirt on your car.
