Audiophiles, I need some help!

With some help from my stepfather, I am going to build a speaker enclosure similar to the 4080 enclosure (http://www.4080enclosures.com/).

I am wanting to add just a single 10" subwoofer (Rockford Fosgate Punch 10", 4-ohm, 200watts) in the trunk but I want to keep my stock Bose setup in tact. What would be the easiest way to add some punch from that sub? Can I splice into the stock Bose amp or will I need an aftermarket amp to run that 10" sub? Any advice or suggestions on the easiest setup are appreciated. Thanks.

You'll need a new amp. The stock bose won't be able to power the sub sufficiently.

I agree, a new amp is needed. Plus with a new amp you cancontrol JUST the sub volume instead of having to turn everything up and down with the same button.

Perfect. I am not looking for the highest-end bass, just something that can give that extra "thump" around the 60Hz-80Hz range, not the 30Hz or below LOW LOW bass. I have the factory manual with the wiring diagrams, i just need to figure out how to connect that amp and sub to the stock wiring. Any feedback from someone out there that has done this similar setup would be great. Thanks for the advice guys.

My installer tapped into the Bose wiring. I still use the Bose head unit powering the rear deck & rear side speakers. I have an amp pushing my sub in 4080 box & an amp pushing my Focal components up front.

Not exactly sure how he did it though.

Perfect, i think that's the answer i was looking for. I want the Bose unit to control the stock speakers but the amp to control just the sub for the bass. I want to use the stock speakers for mids and highs primarily. I think i'll splice after the bose amp into the rear deck speakers signal and connect the new amp there, and hook the sub and rear deck speakers to the amp. Who knows, maybe i'll throw in some new 3-way 6x9's on the rear deck.

Anyone have the OHM ratings of the stock speakers for the Bose system on hand?

I think the rear deck speakers are 4 OHM. But you can hook up a voltmeter to them to find out for sure - switch it to OHMs - unhook your speakers, but when you put the leads from the voltmeter to the postive and negative don't put your fingers on the leads.

I'm only 50,000-OHMs.............Contrary to popular belief, i'm not that electrifying.

Dom, i wanna hear how it sounds when ur done.
Also, u need to put some new wheels on your Christmas wish list. don't know what your taste is, but some chrome with that black would look so clean. Chrome would look kinda ghetto on my DG, but imo, looks good on black.
