I have a 2010 G37x coupe and I just had paddle shifters installed since the X doesn't come with paddles from factory. I purchased oem paddles and it will downshift but not upshift, everything was installed and wired correctly as far as I can tell. Does the car need to be programed or something?
Here's a quick tutorial on testing for continuity: Fluke Meters, just FYI.
Set the meter to read continuity and disconnect the wiring connector for the paddle shifter.
Place probes on switch terminals (pins) NOT the connector itself. It does not matter which probe to which pin. Your meter should read "OL" (open line/ loop).
Now, use a strong rubber band to pull and hold the paddle toward the steering wheel while you touch the probes to the pins. Your meter reading should change from "OL" to a numeric value and may even beep. This indicates the circuit path is closed meaning the paddle switch is good.
If the meter still reads "OL" when you pull on the paddle, then the switch is probably bad.

you can open up the paddle, and bend down the little metal piece which slides to make contact and repair the switch. I have done it before, not too hard.

I was installing a new carbon fiber paddle shifter, and I messed that little copper piece up, so i purchased a new paddle shifter, and the same thing happened, it bent it, and I think it's getting no contact do you know how I can fix it? How to i secure that copper piece back??

please I need some help I purchased new carbon paddle shifters and now my upshift won’t work i purchased 3 different oem ones and it keeps breaking the little metal contact inside I don’t know why but it’s very frustrating at this point
