How to Change 6MT Shift Boot

I bought a new boot from RedlineGoods and I couldn't find a good DIY anywhere so I figured I'd share my experience with you guys. They have one on their website but I find it to be a little lacking, although I don't blame them because they have hundreds of installations instructions so they can't get super detailed each time.

Let's get started:

1) Remove the boot and shifter trim from the car (other DIYs have covered this)

2) Flip it over and pry off the little black circles with a screwdriver. There's a bunch of them.

3) Push in the four clips and separate the plastic trim pieces.

4) Once separated, remove the old boot.

5) With the boot inside out, cut the zip tie that hold the boot retainer to the boot.

6) If the new boot has the holes pre-cut, align the new boot with the trim holes and guide it on.

7) Snap the black trim piece over the boot back onto the upper trim piece. Throw out the little circles because they can't be re-used.

8) With the boot inside out again, fold the excess material back over the boot retainer and zip tie it to hold it in place.

9) Fold it back and re-install.
