Just something I've seen and thought would be a cool way to mod. It's more expensive and more involved than vinyl, but the result is pretty cool looking, especially for parts that have really complex shapes or textures that don't lend themselves to vinyl very well. I've seen them do wheels, too.

Haven't seen those DIY kits. I had my mirror covers and lower front chin spoiler hydro-graphed, came out pretty good although they haven't held up well to road debris, especially the chin spoiler. I think this is best for parts that aren't in harms way.
