Anybody know where to order that plastic piece that the bumper bracket screws into in step #4? I looked at an exploded view of the bumper assembly but cannot pinpoint the piece.. (for an '08 G37s)

Thanks!

Are you looking for the actual part #, or where to purchase the piece? WHen removing the bumper(I stress this in the directions), but you CANNOT overtighten or screw that screw in too far or it will result in the nut to come right through the plastic resulting in you having to purchase a new bracket. THIS happened to ME, so please learn from my mistakes.

A new bracket such as this can be found obviously at the dealer, the cost was right around $50-

There are also companies online that have manufactured an aftermarket bracket for this in steel. Not sure how it fits or any ratings/reviews on it.

AWESOME Write up!

1 note. I know you said that you don't have to take the wheels off to get the clips in the wheel-well. You don't even need to access those clips. All you need to do is remove the one clip thats closet to the bolt that you need to remove under the cover. Just remove the clip and pull the cover out. It leaves plenty of room for a 10mm ratchet.

I've taken the front off of my G35 before but never the G37 so this was a suburb DIY. It saved me a ton of time. Thanks, man!

Help!

I just installed an 08 sport bumper on an 09x coupe. The bumper was a really tight fit. On the left side I broke one of the white snapping tabs and when I bolted everything down the bumper pops out a 1/4" where it meets the fender about 4" from the 10mm screw thats behind the fender liner. I can push on it but it stays bulged out. I will take a picture later.

Any one know the part number for this piece? Hopefully that will solve my problem.

Call the dealer, tell them you want the front bumper retainer. Its a common replacement.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up! Journey bumper just changed out for the IPL bumper. I was out of town and when I got home at midnight, my IPL bumper and sides were waiting in the garage for me. Instead of waiting until daylight like a normal human being would, grabbed some flashlights and brought my laptop down to the garage and had at it. 3hrs to install bumper and sides (went slow due to crappy lighting). Install went smooth because of this DIY, just need to check in daylight to make sure everything looks 100%.

Now all I need is that FI CBE and RHFC's to go with this bumper... hint...hint :-). The wait is killing me. Lance, any updates on a possible ship date?

This seems pretty straightforward - and now I have a question;

I'm looking to do a midnight grill install and OEM lip install on my 2011 Sedan non-sport bumper. Would it make more sense to remove the bumper to install those items? Seems like it might be easier than working under the car - plus I believe I'll need to raise the front to drill the holes for the lip/spoiler.

Any thoughts?

It is not absolutely required to take off the bumper to install a new grille, but it makes the process 10 times easier.

Well yeah - I wouldn't remove the bumper if I was just doing the grill only.

But given that I'll be doing the midnight grill AND the OEM lip, I wondered if removing the bumper might make both jobs easier.
