hey all,
so I'm noticing more stuff with car headlights... first was hazing and I used a kit and it worked fairly well, but this year I noticed the lines or cracks or something...there is no type of laminx type film or anything ..also no condensation going on inside so guessing it's not all the way through lens...any one have this and a fix? as I don't want to replace unless it becomes a moisture issue , but would like to clear up if doable...
Its called Crazing. Get a Novus 3 step plastic polishing kit off amazon and some 3m 5k trizat disk and they will come out. Btw that happens from putting pressure on the lens when working on the car or buffing with too much pressure.

will check it out and order. as I thought it may be something that polish would remove but i guess 2500 wet polish is not sufficiently a strong enough process..and yeah, could be from buffing and too much pressure etc..will take it slower this go round and hope the kit and disks will do the trick.. thanks!
2500 is not even close to enough. You'd need to start with 500 and work up to 2500 or 3000. I've wetsanded and buffed several sets of headlights over the years. Its not "hard" but its not easy work.
yea, as i read more into wet sanding suggestions, it seems some started even at 400 , so will give it a shot this weekend and see if results improve the look
I dont recommend starting at anything under 2500 i have been modding headlights for about 15 years.this is plastic not wood the grooves you cut into plastic become harder and harder to remove and then you DO NOT want to remove the actual coating that is on the plastic once you do the headlights are done.the yellowing is like plaque on teeth what would happen if you sanded the enamel off your teeth? They fail and break down just like the plastic will. Also the heat generated from all the sanding will cloud the plastic which causes ghost spots. Please stick to trizat pads with some soapy water as lube and Novus plastic polish.
