Door leather discolouration

Noticed some staining/discolouration on the black door leather. It looks like a drip of liquid has discoloured or taken the colour out of the leather. Some water may have gotten in through the top of the door or the past owner may have used an aggressive cleaning product. I'm not sure if the leather in that area has been stained whitish or has lost some of it's black dye. It won't wipe away with a damp cloth. I'm wondering if I should try some sort of leather cleaner or go at it with a bit of black shoe polish. Any suggestions? WD40?

Mother's cleaner/conditioner's worked well to take out the white stains and restore the leather. I am however, getting a bit tired of the smell. I used some micro fiber towels and can't seem to get the smell out of them either!
