Emblem corrosion

New here, and I want to start off by saying this is a great site! I have a question.

Are the emblems on the trunk actually chrome/metal? I ask because mine have spots on them that won't wash off. Looks kind of like rust spots if you look up close. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? And if so, what can I use to remove or how can I remove them, polish them or whatever?

Thanks again.

they are plastic. metal or chrome would alter the aerodynamics.

Yea they are plastic.
Maybe try buffing it out but watch out for your paint.
Good luck!
