So my porter cable came in with M105/205 and tried to see if I can get rid of the scratches on the car. The trunk is hit the worst and it seems like I didn't get any of the scratches out so I'm wondering if I did it correctly. I used a orange pad with m105 about 10 times on a particular scratch and then used m205 with a white pad and at first it seemed like it did some justice but after everything was clean again and dry it didn't do much at all. Only thing I was able to remove was a scuff that somebody left on my car two days ago. Anybody have some tips on how to do this. I applied enough pressure to see the pad slow down and released and reapplied pressure like that. Do I need to try and use sandpaper??? The scratches on top of the trunk are thin, I can slide my nail over them without stopping. There are some scratches on the lower part of the trunk lid that stops my finger somewhat and those did not change either. Any tips??

Got pictures of the damage? Also, off subject but were you over on the Nissan club forum as well?

Ive joined but never posted anything. I was on the 370z forum as well for a while. These first pics was before the porter cable treatment.

Heres some pics that I just took. Its kind of late and not enough light to get some good pics but this is the best I could do.

Can I use that with the PC to make it smooth??? I used a pen on a smaller scratch but to me it seemed like it overfilled it and made it more noticeable

Twista some of those scratches do look too deep to completely remove/improve with polishing. You may get some better results with a more aggressive machine/pad/polish, but if you properly went over it 10 times with M105/orange then I'd seek out a professional to measure the paint and see what they can do.

Touching it up can be done in many different ways, but you can rarely if ever expect a 100% fix especially if you have no experience doing it. You can't expect the polish to level touchup paint as you'll need sandpaper and wetsand it, but again all this should be done with someone with experience. Even when wetsanding it level, you'll need to use base then clear coat in order to even try to get it to look the same as the paint outside the scratch.

Hope that helps!

EDIT: Dr. Colorchip may be a better solution here for you as it won't leave a bulge by over filling the scratch.

Paint is like a layer cake, When you have a scratch in it, its much like taking a piece out of the cake. Now if you want the cake to be level again you'd have to take layers off the top of the cake down to where the base is all flat again. Problem is, your piece of cake is gone. You can mask that, but probably not remove it with your PC.

those should wet sand and buff off ,I bet you could get 80% of that off with a good wet sand and buff. any reputable detail shop or body shop can do it for you for a hour or 2 of labor .
