Rust concerns
I bought a 2010 G37 Coupe about a month ago. I noticed some rust on the calipers and on the some of the pipes leading to the muffler. I did not see any on the body. Do you think I should spend the time to try and remove it? Thanks!
Do you mean on the actual calipers, or the brake discs? I've seen some light rust develop on the brake discs if I haven't used them in the while. A little bit of driving and aggressive braking will clean that right up.
If you have rust on your actual calipers, it might be worth cleaning. I'd just get some fine grit sandpaper and scrub it off, and you might as well paint them while you're in there.
I think pretty much everyone has at least minor rusting on their undercarriage. As long as it's just surface rust, you're probably fine. Some people up north where they salt the roads frequently opt to clean it off and coat their undercarriage with some sort of protectant. If you don't see road salt that often, you probably don't need to worry about it. However, if you notice it flaking or covering a significant area, it might not be a bad idea to similarly scrub it off and get some covering.
