Detailing question

Washing my car yesterday I noticed a few spots on the passenger door and window. It looks like the car was sprayed with leather cleaner or something, but it would not wash off (even off the window). I was able to scrape a little off the chrome window trip with a plastic blade.
I purchased a detailing kit on Amazon that has a clay bar. I'm hoping that will take care of it. Any other ideas?

it sounds like they are water spots - minerals left over from the water drying. that's why it's recommended to wipe down your car after a wash. a clay bar should remove the spots.

Always a good idea to have some Macquires Ultimate Compound on hand, it's a mild compound that can be applied by hand w/ a soft microfiber pad or cloth for problem areas or light scratches/swirls. What the claybar won't remove the compound will. Just be sure to apply a good Carnauba wax after any compounding and clay.

Chemical Removal - 3D Eraser –made from biodegradable ingredients (Phosphoric Acid 10 – 15%, Deionized Water 80-85%) that will not harm your vehicles surfaces and if used as directed, it’s also environmentally safe. Use with very fine #0000 synthetic steel wool, for eliminating water spots on glass. Super fine synthetic steel wool works best for removing water spots from car windows. Do not leave on for long and apply in shade. The Gel like consistency prevents the solution from running down your car surface.

no luck

Thanks for the responses, I know I didnt give you much info. I used a Macquires detailing kit. The wash, clay bar, and the compound all failed to remove it. That portion of the passenger door is still very rough, almost sticky feeling. It is present on the door panel and on the window. I kind of think one of my kids may have sprayed it with something, possibly even a spraypaint gloss or something (we wont talk about why there may have been spraypaint accessible to a small child), although my wife thinks that is impossible. I'll have to get some better photos.
