Car cover
Car cover
Moving to the city and will temp store my car at the GF's parent's house (nice people, can't drive stick
) but lost the battle for a spot in the 3car garage...there's a nice big driveway, but its covered with trees
Good thing (I guess) that the car will be out of the sun, but I'm worried about the elements (sap, animals, branches).
Anyone have good experience with car covers? Seems like the cheap ones can to more harm than good (scratch paint). Or maybe other suggestions (besides UG parking in the city for $300/mo
)?
Thanks

Are you temp storing it as in it's just going to sit there and not be driven (even by you) for a specific period of time?? Any of them will scratch the paint if it's not put on correctly. Just make sure the car is squeaky clean, debri free when putting on the car cover.
^the car will likely be sitting for 1-2weeks at a time (stored about 20mi outside the city). Do you have experience with a particular type/brand of cover?
I think one of those "popup canopy" things might work best but not sure how that would go over with the 'rents

Always had very good luck with the "Noah" fabric covers. I've gotten them from California Car Covers, but I think they're easy to find. If I'm not mistaken, Griots's Garage offers them, and many other car accessory suppliers, I'm sure.

By the way, if you do go with one of these, or similar, they tend to be a little stiff out of the box, so before you use it for any length of time (especially outside), wash it first in one of the high capacity washers at a laundromat using warm or cold water - no detergent - and dry it on the car, not in the dryer. Much softer that way...........
