Interior cleaning

I'm looking for a product that I can buy from your average car store (Straus, Pep Boys, etc...). I need to clean the doors, door sills, dash, and seats. Anything and everything that I've used so far leaves streak marks. Any suggestions?

I personally use 303 Aerospace Protectant. You can get it at any marine boating store...if you have one near you. Great product.

Lol. I hear ya. If you have the ability, order it online. It's good stuff. Hopefully you'll get some other good advice on other products as well.

Iz Cockpit Premium – an interior care and protectant that provides an original matte-satin factory finish. This is a treatment spray for all interior components including the dash, finished leather and vinyl seats, door handles, trim, navigation screens, stereo head units, and clear plastic. It has very limited cleaning ability but it provides ultra violet (UV) protection for interior materials. The gentle formula is water-based and free of oils providing a non-slip finish, which allows for application on the steering wheel, shift **** and both finished leather and vinyl upholstery.

I like 1Z premium cockpit as well, but I'm pretty sure you won't find that at pepboys or autozone etc. Make sure you are using clean MF towels and likely more than one if you are doing that many components. Probably at least 3-4 depending on the size and how you use them. Sometimes I just use a slightly damp towel to clean things if they are not too dirty or I ran out of product.

For the dash, steering wheel, shift **** vinyl area I use Meguiars #40 vinyl and rubber cleaner. For the seats and armrest leather area I use meguiars gold class rich leather cleaner/conditioner. Both can be found at your local autozone.

Use any of these products with a Magic Eraser pad, found in the sponge aisle of your average grocery store, and you won't believe how clean stuff gets.

I once cleaned the leather seats of my wife's SUV with a leather cleaning product and a sponge. After doing the whole truck, I went back to hit a few stubborn spots with the a same cleaner and a Magic Eraser. Those spots came out looking like new after 160,000 miles, 3 kids and 5 dogs. I had to redo the entire interior with the Magic Eraser so it would all match.

That may work once but I would caution doing that repeatedly. I nice little discussion from m3post.

Did you guys not read the part about him wanting a product he can buy at a local auto parts store?

I've been using the Turtle Wax Ice Total Interior Cleaner and Detailer. You can use it on rubber, vinyl, plastic and leather. Cleans the surfaces really well. Gives a nice low-gloss shine. Doesn't feel greasy at all. Smells good too. You can find it at any auto store (Auto Zone, Pep Boys Advanced Auto Parts, etc.).

I've also tried Meguiar's Interior Detailer, which you can also use on all surfaces. However, I didn't like how it left a slightly greasy feel to the leather.

i would go with mothers or meguiars, dont get anything that will leave the surface greasy, you will make ir prone to cracking.

i use this to degrease/clean the interior
Interior Cleaner, 35 Ounces - Griot's Garage

followed by this for the dash and other hard leather things. NOT THE SEATS AND SOFT LEATHER!!
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner - Walmart.com

then use this for the seats
Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner, car leather conditioner, leather protectant, conditioner for leather seats

following all that with a clean microfiber to pick up any leftover product

Diagnosis is the key, not guess work. Before deciding on what products to use, you need to ascertain the grade of leather and the type of finish applied

TOGWT® Autopia Detailing Wiki –“Leather Upholstery Type Surface Identification” - http://www.autopia.org/forum/autopia...fication.html#

Unless a Premium Leather option was purchased finished leather upholstery is used by 95% as OEM in modern (post ’95) automobiles and virtually 100% of leather upholstery in American and Asian-manufactured vehicles. Coated leather is a product where the surface coating applied to the leather substrate does not exceed one-third of the total thickness of the product, but is in excess of ~ 150µ (microns)
