Clear Film on G37 Headlights ...

I just returned from the dlr who has strongly suggested I remove the headlight film. (I have the entire front end protected: hood, bumper, fenders mirrors ad headlights.) They claim G37 headlights burn extremely hot, do not ventilate and will incur peripheral cracks if the heat is contained by film. I have always had all of my cars protected since the advent of this process without incident. Has anyone heard of this unique situation? It's really not a big deal, I'll just remove it, but I am curious if there are any comments. Thanks.

The lights do burn a little hot.

However, one fix for this is to replace the oem bulbs with LEDs.....then there will be minimal heat......that is if you wanna keep the film on the lights.

This is news to me. I know the old (03-05) G35 headlights did have some heat issues that caused the housing to crack but that was the last time I heard of that happening. Several people on here have film on their headlights.

You think you can slide in LEDs without having the LEDs fail? Or fit?

I had clear film on my headlights since day one owning my 11 Vert and never had an issue. Only removed them cause I had my headlights modded by Oneighty and they had to put my headlights in the oven to seal the glue, which then melted the plastic film a little so had to remove them. Most advisors at dealers doesn't know what they're talking about--my dealer advised me to not use aftermarket bulbs cause the "excess heat" might damage the headlight covers

Infiniti G37 LED Lights & Replacement Bulbs at CARiD.com

Have not tried them, but are supposed to be direct replacement bulbs using LEDs.

i got a light tinted film on mine. no problems at all.. probably saved some wear and tear from rocks and gravel usually pitting the lens.

I've never put film on any of my vehicles but I do think its a good idea. I'd like to put some on my new G37 V... Where's the best place to get it and is this a fairly easy DIY ?

Nevermind,,,, after reading a few posts I see this is clearly not a DIY'er for me....especially since I've never attempted it.
