Detail Sequence/Products

I am looking to remove some minor scratches and imperfections from my G and would like some input or advise. When it comes to cleaning, waxing, polishing and claying, what's the proper squence of that order? Are they all necessary? My car is a year old and it's never been clayed. Do I need to do that or is it for later years? What pads should be using on a OB, for both polishing and scratch removal? My overall goal is to remove scratches and restore some shine.

The equipment and products I currently have are as follows:
Porter Cable
Meguiers M105/M205
Menzerna Super Finish Polish SF 4000

Which is better, Menzerna or M205?

If you are going to clay the car, you will want to make sure the surface is clean that way you don't scratch it up more by rubbing dirt all over it with the clay.

I've always washed and dried then clayed, then washed and dried again just to getting any residue off. After that it is on to wax.

On cars where paint was a little worse for wear, I would wash, then use rubbing compound, machine glaze, hand glaze, and wax in that order to restore the luster.

You will definitely want to clay bar after your initial wash.

You've starting with some great products! M105 will remove some serious swirl. If you have at least moderate swirls or imperfections, I would recommend starting with M105 and an orange pad.

Only if you have very minor imperfections to no imperfections, you could probably start with the M205 and a white pad.

The Menzerna can also be applied with a white pad or perhaps a tangerine pad for fine polishing.

You will probably want to finish with something that has a little bit more protection than the Menzerna. A nice sealant will provide protection for your paint for 3+ months. Menzerna Power Lock would be a great product to try. Poorboy's World EX is a good option if you are looking to spend a little less money.

In terms of which is better between Meguiar's M205 and Menzerna SF 4000, it depends on what your goal is. Menzerna might provide a little bit more gloss, but the M205 will likely be easier to work with in correcting imperfections if you have minor imperfections in the clearcoat.

Best of luck and share some pictures after your detail!
