Do any local hardware/auto shops sell this polisher? I know many online sites do but what about lowes, home depot or autozone? Thx

Thx bb. I went thru that. I just read a site saying they discontinued it back in '07, so, no one will probably be carrying it anymore. Thread can close, I guess...

Incorrect. Maybe the original 7424 was discontinued? I don't know. But you can still buy new PC 7424 XP all day long. If in doubt, call your local HD on the phone and ask them if they have it in stock or can get it shipped to the store. Or order it from Detailed Image, they're great guys..

I'll definitely buy it from DI if I can't find it locally. I was just hoping to get it two hours ago vs 3-5 days... I'll stop by homedepot on my way home to see what they carry. Calling any store for stock check in Fresno sucks ball$ because everyone hires their own instead of hiring qualified candidates or anyone who cares about customer service. Sorry, went off topic there... I'll keep y'all posted!

Lol. Understood. Good luck. Try HD, Lowe's, or any place that sell Porter Cable tools in your area. Specialty retailers may be more likely to stock it but will be more expensive than a big box.

^ Thanks bro. HD did not have it, so, I went to Lowes and got it's equivilent Shop PORTER-CABLE 6" Variable-Speed Random Orbit Sander with Polishing Pad at Lowes.com. I later stopped by Walmart and got Megs 205 and #7 show glaze. That's right, a few selected stores started stocking Megs "professional grade" line of products. Check this out, M105/205 D300, Pads, Etc at Walmart? - Page 2. I'll post pics this weekend.

Type of PC 7424 XP Pads

I just bought a PC 7424 XP and was wondering what type of pads people would recommend for the infiniti paint. Thanks

I use 5.5" buff&shine pads from this place
Buff and Shine 5.5" Foam Pads - Autoality Incorporated
It depends moire what you want to do rather than Infiniti specific paint. I got 2 of each~Orange, Green, Blue, Black, and Red. You can also get slightly oversized 6 inch pads from Harbor Freight that are decent and when they're on sale for $4.99 a good deal, they only have three varieties there though.
I've only had to use the Orange pads the first time, now I just use mainly Blue & Black, then Red for wax application.

Do you recommend a certain type of polish with the different type of pads?

I too prefer 5.5" pads with the PC7424XP as they seem to work best... not too large to bog down the machine and not too small to drive you nuts and take too long as you go around the entire car.

I personally like the Lake Country pads, specifically orange and crimson. Infinity generally has more sensitive paint so, doing milder polishing is usually key, rather than going too aggressive then having to spend lots of time trying to remove any polish induced marring.

In short, I'd recommend you pick up a few orange, few crimson and possible some black or red lake country pads to use with appropriate polishes on the 7424XP.

I'm looking for something that will help to get rid of swirl marks...would this one be good for that? I already have the product...just need to find the right polisher/buffer.

Yes it will. There are better products available than the 7424, but it's simple to use, cheap, and gets the job done. Other products have a little bit more of a learning curve IMO (not much) and are a lot more expensive. I am loving my Rupes Bigfoot in the little time I've used it. I hope to be able to do a full detail with it soon.
