Just bought G37, needs a little work

Hello All,

I just bought a 2008 OB G37S and I'm looking to take care of the body before I start adding any mods. It seems like there are some minor scratches and swirling on the body, nothing all the way through to the paint. It also looks like the car was in a small accident, the right headlight has a scratch and the bumper is not quite in line with the fender and headlight (taking it back to dealer to see what they can do about this). I live in central NJ and from what I've read so far it seems my best bet would be to either detail the car myself or take it to a pro like Detailer's Domain. Any advice on what I should buy or who I should go to for the light scratches on body and scratched headlight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can get a decent (not perfect, especially on our black) correction done for a few hundred (400?) bucks. You can also buy all the stuff you'll need for a few hundred and do it yourself.

I did a two step on my black G37 last year, using Menzerna SIP/Orange pad and then Menzerna SF/White Pad. Afterwards it was sealed with Poorboys Polish + Sealant and Meguiars Ultimate Quick Wax (spray)

I bought a griot's garage random orbital, 2 of each pad, and had the 3 and 5" backing plates. You'll want some painters tape to mask off your trim, and most of all, a lot of time and patience.

Thanks for the advice bro. Sounds like my best bet would be to do it myself. Do you think it's necessary to do it in a garage? I live in the city but I do have my own driveway. Also, do you feel that two pads were enough to do the whole car? I have read of some people who change pads more frequently.

If you are doing paint correction do not do it in the sun.

It doesn't hurt to change more frequently. I got by with 2.

I have 4 of each now though.

Thing about doing it outside, there's a possibility you might get random stuff blown onto your car while doing it, which could create pig tails. Got any friends with a garage?

Yea I was worried about that, no close friends with a garage, but I am planning to buy a house in a year or two, I'll have to make sure garage is a requirement.
