It really depends on how strict the law is around where you live. 30% wil generallyl give you the look you want but yet keep you out of trouble.

a lot of people do 35% sides and 25% rears. Perfect IMO, day or night.

Look into ceramic tint. They are the functional, more expensive kind but worth it IMO.

I have FormulaOne ceramic tint and never regretted getting it. It significantly keeps your car cooler inside. Also not all installers carry ceramic tints, so you got to shop around.

Just had Formula One Pinnacle put on. 40% sides and rear and Air Blue for the drivers and passengers windows. Came of age in the sixties and the less attention drawn the better. Amazing how much heat the ceramic tint keeps out! Here is a pic of Air Blue installed on a front windshield. Paid $350 and it took about two hours. Well worth the money.

I live in NY so keeping the heat out is not as important as how it looks and how it holds up to scratches, or accidental chemicals (like Windex).

Im probably going to get around the 50% mark or there abouts... Im mostly interested in what brands people are using that live up to the quality expectations...

When you ask some installers they cant even tell you what brank film they are using.. that concerns me as I could NOT live with a low quality tint.. its like living with low quality sun glasses.... Just cant do it...

Thanks for the replys!

3M Crystalline is currently 3M's top of the line tint film. But please don't get in done in Flushing, NY (TintM**). Read my Yelp review and you'll know why.

What do think is a reasonable price for a sedan?

I paid $350 for my sedan all around except the front windshield. I'm sure the price varies between installers. I expected to pay around $400 to $600. TinM** quoted me $350 and I didn't find any negative reviews about them on the net, so I went to them for the tint. However, that was a mistake. They did a very bad job. Top of the line tint film with a bad install is not worth it. I would rather pay extra elsewhere for top quality job.

The tint film is worth every single penny. Make sure you find a shop that does the quality install.

Here are some pictures of my car with 3M Crystalline 40% tint:

Please note that 40% is the darkest for this film.

I have 3M in 20% all around. I initially wanted 15% but dealer advised it might be too dark. 20% is perfect IMO. not too light and not too dark.

This is the one the high end shops use around here;

FormulaOne Automotive Window Film, Auto Tinting and Paint Protection Film
