What do I need
What do I need
Hello: So I recently purchased a 08 OB G37s! Love the car... Gave it its first car wash today and noticed a few things....Please help.
My car has alot of minor scratches... (cant feel them and are small) It also has swirl marks and the paint is really not that smooth....
I am planning on getting the outside detail however am unsure of exactly what I need. I know I need a Clay Bar treatment ...however am confused about "compounds, wax and polishes?"
What exactly do I need other then the Clay treatment... What does a compound do and whats the difference between a polish and a wax?
Please Help. THANKS!

I would highly recommend investing in an orbital buffer to start off.
Here's a simple breakdown:
Wash: Sheep mitt with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss
Clay: DI fine grade clay bar
with CG clay lube
Dry: DI waffle weave drying towel
Polish: M205 will most likely be aggressive to do the job
Pad: White Pad
Sealant: Blackfire Wet Diamond with Polycharger - 16 oz | Detailed Image via Black Pad
Wax: P21S Concours Wax
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Get yourself a 7424xp buffer and some orange/yellow pads. Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 and M205 should get rip of all minor scratches and swirl marks on your car.
Sealant: i used Blackfire Wet Diamond.
Wax if you not on the budgets, go with Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax or Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnauba Paste Wax.

If you don't know what you're doing, pay someone to do it before you **** up your new car.
Simple as that, end of story.
BTW if you search for detailed image, they will break down everything you need to know on their website.

Sounds Cool... yea I think i am just going to pay someone to do it for me... I have never used and orbital and really don't feel like messing up my cars finish... for what I need does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost?

Even a monkey can not mess up with an orbital and a light pad/polish combo. It's simply and straight forward if you just give it a bit of thought.
To answer you question, it will cost around $200 for a proper exterior detail. Pay any less, and you will run into chances of having to get your car repainted.

Put your location in your profile. Depending on where you live, someone on the board might do it for you, or be able to recommend someone.
And to add to what Loi posted, thats a good ballpark, but depending on the detailer and the steps involved and the level of correction needed, it can be from 150-300 easily.
