Glass Coat

I bought my G37 in August. Some doc had bought it off the showroom, had it glass coated and decided he wanted another color. I bought it and they threw the $700 glass coat in on the deal. Anyway, does anyone have this Glass Coat? Pros/Cons? Can I or should I wax it? I read on the net you don't need to wax for 7 yrs. Please advise.

its amazing b/c i wasn't a believer of it until i had to put it on my own personal car. now i sell it to about 40% of clients.

if it's the same glass protection, it makes the windshield 40% stronger, fills in the imperfections of the windshield, and does act the same like rain-x...but it goes beyond.

it's definitely not worth the $700 retail. Most tinting places can do the same urethane shield for about $250

I don't really care about the beading. What I want to know is how does it stand up to the scratches?!?!?

The newer nanothechnology silica coating will do the same thing and more for much less than £700

Sunlight exposure - the cured AQuartz coating is are extremely transparent and colourless, and therefore yellowing of the film itself over time is negligible. The nanostructure structure provides highly effective physical ultra violet (UV) blocking, providing colour stability with >98% visible light transmission
Heat exposure - cured AQuartz coating are highly resistant to ultra violet (UV) radiation (heat) and can withstand surface temperatures as high as 500.0F
Durability and abrasion resistance - the AQuartz nano-structure produces a tough; hard finish 9H (Pencil Hardness Scale) that exhibits far superior abrasion resistance than that of traditional polymers, wax, silicone, or other OEM paints, for up to 2 years (depending on ambient conditions)
Surface Bonding - the bond created is a covalent bond, which means that the coating shares the electrons with the surface molecules, thus becoming a part of it, forming a nanostructure. Covalent bonds are approximately 10 times stronger than hydrogen-bridge bonds, which are commonly present in most other water repellent coatings.
Hardness – Mohs equivalent hardness scale between 6-7, requires a 2-3 week cure cycle after application
Scratch-resistance- anti-scratch Absolute Hardness - 48 Requires a 2-3 week cure cycle after application
Coating final thickness - each layer is approx 0.3µ, apply two layers to ensure complete coverage, three layers are recommended; this will provide better durability and maximum hardness and scratch resistance.

Although I've cited AQuartz there are others available-
• G|Techniq Surface Coatings (UK)
• Nanolex (Germany)
• Optimum Polymer Technologies, Opti-Coat (USA)
• G'zox Polymer Coatings (Japan)
• SONAX Premium Class Nano Paint Protect Nano Pro (GR)

You can add a wax LSP to nano coatings
