Anyone try Dr. Color Chip?

I'm thinking of using Dr. Color Chip (www.drcolorchip.com) on my Graphite Shadow G37 to fix a nasty rock chip on my passenger door. The chip isn't very big but is highly visible since it's located in the middle of the door.

Does anyone have experience using the Dr. Color Chip kits? Is it worth getting? I've used factory touch up paint in the past to cover up chips on previous cars and have never really liked the results.

Here's a pic of the rock chip:

How deep is the chip? I've had really good results if the chip is deep (i.e. fingernail catches on it easily). Dr Colorchip didn't really help shallower chips/scratches in my case.

I'd say it's medium deep. The larger chip (to the right) pretty much removed the first few layers of paint. The smaller one isn't as severe. They both still look bad on my new G37 though

What it does is basically cover up the area w/ color, so it will not be noticeable like it is now. The area will not be smooth as if nothing happened. I think it will work well in your case. Mine chips were larger and deeper . . . but several ones similar to your. The results for those came out well. Sure beats spending 700 to repaint.

I used it on my platinum graphite but the color isn't an exact match (DR's formulation is darker), but it does fill-in shallow chips. For deeper ones, you can layer it up.

You'll still see the damage up-close, but at least it won't be as obvious now, plus you're protecting the underlying sheet-metal if the chip has gone down to it.

Yes, my match was good. You can ask them for another bottle if you feel that your color match was not done well.

if you want to use oem touch up paint, look into using Langka instead.

I tried it as well and I agree that it does work better on deeper scratches. When I tried it on light surface scratches, the solvent would keep removing the paint I applied.

I bought langka for one of my cars several years ago. It's just that it must be used EXACTLY as directed. If the touch-up paint sits too long, it's ruined. The idea is that Langka removes the top bubble of touch-up paint, to make a nice smooth surface.

From start to finish, how long does it take to repair a paint chip?
