I got the tools to polish, how to proceed?

so i finally got around to trying it out. I decided to just try out the M205 and see what the results would be first before using the 105 at later time when i have more experience.
Using halogen lights i noticed it didn't really remove tiny scratches on the finish so i'll have to either use the 105 or perhaps press harder or try a different pad (used white). The finish is definitely nice and a clear difference over the pre-polish gloss.
Also, it was a lot more work than i imagined

That is simply NOT true. It's not likely if you are using it properly, but you most certainly CAN burn paint using a PC. I've done it just to see if it were possible. It most definitely is possible.
All it took is a PC with a 4" yellow pad, Menzerna Power Gloss, and moderate to slightly strong of pressure moving over the same area for just a couple of minutes. This was on a metal part of a car, on plastic parts it's much easier. The paint gets extremely warm to the touch, then hot, then burns. It's not pretty.

Going back to what Black Betty and myself said...if it's used PROPERLY it is unlikely to harm the paint but it is absolutely possible to burn right through the paint.
Saying it is impossible is like saying it's impossible to shoot yourself. If you handle a gun the proper way the chances are near nil, but it is still possible if you don't know what you're doing.

Sometimes i wonder if all the hard work i put into detailing my car is even worth it, i mean it looks crappy the day after.
Whats making it look crappy? Dust? Pollen?
If you use a sealant, I QD my car every weekend with a microfiber towel. Takes about 5 minutes and the car looks perfect. If you dont have a sealant, pick one up. The sealant also helps water bead and slide off the car and will help it look a little cleaner.
But if you are parking it outside in the rain and weather, theres nothing you can do. Its going to get dirty.

Yea I am parking it outside all the time. I recently stopped parking under the tree for... obvious reasons.
I did order a gallon of QD recently and it has lightened the load. I've also gotten efficient at washing my car and it doesn't take that long to do..
I do think its the pollen or perhaps even the rain that leaves a bunch of white residues all over the car and it has been annoying me.

The rain will absolutely spot your car...rain can't form unless it has a particle to condense around, so every rain drop that falls is a paricle of dirt/dust/etc
And yeah garaging the car will make a world of difference
