Magnet on car

Anybody put magnets on their cars (09)? Any problems with the paint? I know on some of my other cars I have had magnets on them, but was never really concerned about the paint. I would like to put one on my car but dont want to royally screw up the paint. Any suggestions for putting the magnet on?

Thanks, Charlie.

I am worried to ask what magnet you want to put on your G (only because some people have put horrendous things on their G's in the recent past)

but in terms of paint as long as its not moving around it shouldn't...I would take it off and clean that area of paint as regularly as anywhere else though

It is a small Juventus magnet (Italian Football team). Soccer ball with team logo in middle. With all the talk about soft paint and such, I was wondering if I would tear up the paint. I was planning on cleaning the magnet and all every time I washed the car.

haha as long as it's not the batman logo or something

but I don't think there will be a problem, as long as it's not moving around. That is where you'll get marring and such. And like you said, you plan on cleaning the magnet and the paint so I wouldn't think it would do too much.

I had considered not doing the magnet at all. I have had magnets on past cars and it never really caused a problem. Of course that was a Chevy Prizm and a Ford Explorer, so I did not really care a lot. Now, I care about the car.

Haha...Batman...that would be funny though. Of course, an Inter fan would not like the magnet.

I don't recommend putting a Juvi magnet on your trunk, because I can guarantee you a few key scratches on there haha

Did any of your newspapers distribute the support our troops ribbon magnets? I've seen a few still on cars after invading Iraq or Afghanistan and it did affect the paint when you took them off.

Don't put a magnet on the roof, for interference with the onboard compass. Don't see a problem mechanically with using the doors, but I'd use a felt pad for each magnet. Actually, I wouldn't do it at all. My precious!

What about if the magnet is covered by soft silicone?
I ordered Door Shox to prevent dings, should receive them today. If someone opens their door into my car with the shox on, they will move a bit I imagine. But as long as the surface that is touching the paint is soft like silicone, I will be fine right?

haha...they are tanking it this season. A fan since I started playing soccer years ago, so Forza Juve all the time now...

There is a chance that the magnet could get stolen, but that does not happen much here in Blacksburg, VA. If you have Virginia Tech magnets on and you leave them up during a football game, then you are taking your chances. Otherwise, magnets normally dont get stolen around here.

How would I apply a protector to the magnet? Felt seems like it would degrade fast, but may be able to get a real thin one from the fabric store. the extra fibers may be worse than the metal.

So far, i guess nobody has really used magnets on their cars. Maybe I will be the test subject...haha.
