Head light lens scratch

My buddy put about a 12 inch scratch in my head light. Can anyone suggest a polish product to use to buff it out?

Depending on the depth of the scratch, you'd most likely need to wet sand, 800,1000,2000,3000 grit then polish out the sanding marks with a heavy compound, medium, then light polish via porter cable.

Scratch is not deep at all. Think I can just get away with polish? Trying to safe my friend some money, but then again I don't want to try to DIY and end up needing to replace the entire head light..

I think your best solution is to bring it to a detail shop. It should be around ~$20-$30.

Could not fully rid of the scratch with wet sanding. Wondering if I were to get custom lights if spray painting the housing cover the scratch?

ur gonna paint your housing cover?? don't do that, u'd rather buy vinyl and overlay it....cause once u paint it, u can't turn back...and u might still be able to see the scratch at certain angles...

Loi gave you the perfect solution to fixing this as good as new. If you don't know much about wet sanding, you probably didn't help it any, just made it cloudy. The key is after you wet sand it correctly down to 2500 or 3000, to polish it out with a polisher and compound, then cutting, then finishing polish. Trust me, it works. I've done it. It won't look great if you polish it by hand.

Please post a picture so we can see if it's even fixable.

I'll put a picture up tomorrow. I took it to a detailer. He did not try anything over 2000 though. I then took it to the dealer and they said it was not possible to get out either

The scratched was deeper than I originally thought. Running my finger nail over it and you could definitely fill the divid.

I would be getting my lights modded by 180custom and they can paint the housing
