I opened my trunk on Jan 1st and saw this weird yellow stain. I tried hitting it with QD but it wouldn't budge. I'm guessing it could be from a firework that landed on the trunk of my car as well as from rain. The rain in turn made the color leak off the firework and go into that drain area.

Any ideas how I can remove the stain without having to hurt the paint?

 

since you used some DQ already, try scrubbing it off with a wash.... maybe the mystery stain will go away....

I don't think it is firework related... but then again, have no clue what it could be. I'd use a more agressive cleaner like Chemical Guys Grime Reaper. It's a degreaser but would be perfect for this heavily contaminated area. I would not use on the top surfaces of your paint though but is fine for door jambs and trunk lid jambs.

You may also try a claybar as well.

 

Kinda looks like someone had a few too many new years eve and took a **** on your trunk.

I'd agree with BB though. Try something a little harsher like the grime reaper or try to get a clay bar down in there. Atleast its just in the jams on not out on the surface where it is easily noticable.

Id try a claybar and see if it takes it off.
