Price quote for a clear bra...Worth it?
Price quote for a clear bra...Worth it?
Hello all. This is my first posting on this forum. I'm from Hawaii and I just got my new G37 sedan tinted from one of the top auto/commercial tinting company in the state. While there I asked the sales person for a quote on the Llumar Paint Protection which is the type of film that they use. The price for the bumper, partial hood, fenders and side mirrors would cost me $1200.00. For only the bumpers $600.00. And only the partial hood, fenders and mirrors $600.00. All with a lifetime warranty. The cost of living in Hawaii is high but I didn't expect it to be this expensive after reading prices paid from other members on the continent. If the cost was in the $600 to $800 range I would have purchased it but at the quoted price I think I'll pass. Would you still buy it at this price?
Pretty hefty quote. It should not "double up" in Hawaii.
I got mine done here in Reno for $675 but this was Ventureshield not Llumar. This included front bumper & partial hood, headlights, mirrors & a small area of the rear bumper. Try finding a other quotes for 3M, Ventureshield, and Llumar from other shops.

I got another price quote but this is from a company that uses VentureShield. He wants $900.00 for the package. I don't know of any other reputable companies in Honolulu that installs clear bras.

Thats actually not too bad of a price if the installer is good. Yes there are cheaper quotes out there but you get what you pay for. Check out some of their work... if it looks good go with it. You wont regret it.
If you don't have any other reputable installers, $900 is better than $1200. Though I have to admit is still is pretty hefty compared to what we pay here in the continental US.
I guess the price increase should not come as a surprise since a gallon of milk there in HI would probably cost around what?... $5-6 average. Whew.

On the Ventureshield website the only certified installer they have listed is in Honolulu, and I don't know if that's who quoted you, but if they do a good job it's definitely worth it.
Yes, that's the installer that I got my quote from. If they are a VentureShield certified installer does that mean they do a good job? I should check out their shop to see if they have any examples to see how they look. I guess for the price that I paid for my Liquid Platinum G37 Journey w/premium package another $900 shouldn't hurt that much.
Certified only means that they've gone through the training program which would hopefully mean they understand the properties of the film and the installation requirements. If you have a chance definitely check them out and possibly see if they'll give you some references of customers that have used them.
I have to say this is hard to believe. The film alone (if its a good film) costs almost that much. So he is telling us that Infiniti is only charging $50 for the labor. I highly doubt it.
