Vibrant Red

Hey guys,

I'm currently saving up to buy a G37 coupe. ( Euro G is very pricey )
Now i'm still debating on wich color to get it in.
My 2 choises are Vibrant Red and Athens Blue.

I really like both colors, however I really would like to get some more info on the red.
I see alot of cars in red nowadays and it seems nomatter what year they are the always seem to fade and lose the deep red color.
The look like they turned kinda pink-ish.

Now my main concern about red is, in what conditions does it fade, and how easily does it fade.

Now I have never owned a red car, so I'm kinda worried about getting one in red, since i've always been told it's a hard color to maintain and keep it from fading, since the color will fade eventually after a few years, is what i've been told.

I would appriciate if you guys could throw in your own experience and tips to maintain the deep red color and keep it as new. Is it really a bad color?

Please chime in.

Here's what I will say about bright colors on a car. I bought a Yellow car back in 2002 with chrome rims. At the time I thought it was the hottest thing around(I was 18) and the multiple compliments I got on it supported that belief. I still like my car and the color hasn't faded noticeably. The main issue you'll most likely run into is your own perception of the car. I personally got tired of the yellow and now wish I would've gotten a more conservative color back then. On the flip side it makes for a great winter car and I don't have to drive my G all year round.
Bottom line_ If red is your favorite color then go for it, the G in VR is sexy. If red isn't really your color, Athens blue will be much easier to live with long term and is less likely to fade.

Red will not fade. Just like any other color, you still have to take care of it.

This is a link to pictures of my VR:

Keep the VR waxed, and keep it garaged when you can, and you should be fine. The faded reds are usually owners that don't wax their cars regularly, and keep it out in the elements all the time, and this will fade the paint in any color. This is my 3rd red car (second G) and I will say that red does show swirls almost as much as the BO, so don't be surprised.

I did have an Altima coupe for 3 months - in Nissan's athens blue color (forgot what they called it) to have something different that red for a change, and got sick of that blue in 2 months. However, it didn't show swirls and dust either.

So get the color you really want

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've always been the person to reguarly wax my car, however I can't keep mine in the garage. So The elements will be a factor.
As for the swirls I guess the new type of paint they use on the Euro models should take care of that for the most part.
