Removing Tar

I was wiping off the G with some detailer when I noticed some tar on the very lower portion of the body on the passenger side. The detailer did not remove it, nor wax nor clay bar, nor dobie pad. Any suggestions on how to safely remove them?
Thanks
Jim

You can buy bug and tar removers which I believe are basically pertroleum products. I think they work pretty good on tar, but I would rinse it off right away...
