Big Scratch On Caliper

I just had winter rims & tires installed on my G37 and the idiot at the shop put on a rim with the wrong offset so it touched the front caliper and then he spun it which put a huge scratch on the caliper. He said he would "fix it" but I don't trust him to not screw things up more.

I went to the dealer and they don't have any touch-up paint for the calipers...and they didn't have any other suggestions.

I'm hoping I can match the paint color and touch it up myself. Does anyone know where I might get matching paint (or happen to have a paint code)?

Thanks

I actually like the metallic grey/silver color. Repainting all 4 of them would definitely be a last resort...

You will likely need to have a powdercoater do it.

Thanks. I did actually call a place that does powder coating and it required the caliper to be completely disassembled as not to damage any seals when the bake the powder coat on. I sounded pretty $$ and I'm sure the shop that did the damage will not pick up the tab.

They should pay to have it done right... I'd suggest you have them pay for you a new caliper. If not... Small Claims Court is your friend.

I agree - they screwed it up and now want to find a cheap fix. I may threaten legal action is they don't provide a satisfactory solution.

I really wish I had just gone to the dealer, they were more expensive but I wouldn't be in this situation right now.

It's one of those Live and Learn situations... A new caliper wouldn't be that much. I'd just tell them that's what you want to have done. You don't want it to be "touched up".

Thanks for the suggestions. In any event, I would still like to get the paint code if anyone has it. Anyone have any ideas?
