Meguiars Quick Detail
Yeah I have heard that also and people have told me that. So the best thing to do to find the truth was ask the experts. I asked the Meguiars Training Instructor and he said the dusters are good for what they do. And yes they can scratch the paint and so can wiping it down with a Quick Detailer, touching your car with your finger can scratch the paint.
So the bottom line is use a clean towel when wiping the car and if it turns black which it will, use another one. So what I have found is wash the car if it is is beyond light dust (in your opinion).
- What I do is I do a full detail taking scratches and swirls out of the paint when it is needed (usually every 3 months or so, depends on where you drive and how often, how often wipe down, dust etc..)
- Then maintain with a duster, then wipe down using Ultimate Detailer if there is NO dirt spots on the car, if there is, WASH it.
And using the duster if you choose to use one, shake it out perferably after dusting each panel of the car to remove big dirt/dust particles from the duster which you will using to wipe the rest of the car with.
The bottom line is no matter how you detail your car, if you have a black car (or dark color) you can see that its dusty as soon as your done doing a __+ hour detail on the car no matter what you do. And you will get scratches/swirls whether you don't maintain it or you do. So if your going to get the defects why not just do what you can to keep your car looking show car clean then every few months (plus or minus) take the scratches/swirls away with a full detail. Just be careful for Deep scratches and then light scratches, BIG difference!
This is what I have learned from the experts, and also just my experience and opinion. Has worked well for me.
Have fun

i dislike the Cali Duster very much but ifyou must you must. I love the new meguiars lines of quick detailers but started my days of car show detailing on the red bottles. either way they r both great.
Meguiars is one product idon't mind buying over and over again.

Not to switch gears here but has anyone else tried this

I've been using it for over a year now and it is the BOMB! Kinda smells like bananas but anyways it leaves the car silky smooth, almost like its been waxed. I've never got the same results from Meguiars.

Clay bars are a whole different subject. But yes clay bars are very good, they remove the above surface contaminants such as overspray, tree sap, some bird droppings, etc. Very Useful product.
