Meguiars Quick Detail

Is Meguiars quick detail (or any QD spray) ok to use if the car was not just cleaned? for instance if there are water marks/bugs/poo/minor dirt/dust? I know its not a permanent solution to washing, but does using it once in a while hurt?

My Infiniti salesman recommended this product. He says he uses it on his black FX35 and gets very good results.

So long as the car is not totally filthy it should be alright. Removing bird poo is ok, as long as you get the big chunks off first.

Of the Mequiars QDs, I prefer the Ultimate Detailer. Doesn't tend to streak as much as the QD in the red bottle.

Right. If your car just went through a dust storm, using the Meguiar's product might not be a good idea since you could end up scratching the paint...I suppose.

It works pretty well, but in my experience I got a little streaking if I didn't dry it well enough. No streaking at all with the black bottle. I have a Blue Slate G37S

Streaking is a minor fix. Just a quick wipe down with a clean dry MF rag will do the trick. Even if there wasn't any visible streaking I would still do it anyway.

I use poorboys spray & wipe. I keep a bottle with a few micro fibber towels in my trunk at all times. I probably shouldn't, but I've used this stuff even when my car is extra dirty and I don't notice any scratching. On the dirtier parts, use more spray and change your towels more frequently. I usually use a fresh towel per section (hood, door, trunk, etc).

One more tidbit.... the Ultimate Detailer moves tire dressing overspray with very little effort. (much easier removal than the red bottle)

I'm a crazy fan of Meguiars and I have attended some training sessons in Irvine and I keep my car with less then a spot of dirt on it. I would perfer as most of these guys were saying is Ultimate Detailer, but the red bottle I would use for claying only. Ultimate Detailer works with the wax currently on the car and help boost it as well.

If you have a dark color car, The California Duster is your BEST friend trust me. Then a wipe with Ultimate Detailer.

I'd stay away from any form of duster and water blade. If there is a lot of dust and it gets trapped in the duster or water blade it will inevitably scratch or start some micro marring. It may look good at first but under direct sunlight and halogen lighting at certain angles you'll see the damage.
