Engine Bay and Undercoat spray

Hi,

When I took delivery of my G, I had asked for the optional protection package which included the Engine bay and undercoat rust protection spray. It kind of looks like a rubbery compound that coats the bay.

Every time I give the car a little "gas" or accelerate hard, I notice a very disctint burning smell and i'm not talking about tire spin here. When I pull over and look under the hood, the smell seems to be coming from the engine bay. It almost smells like a combination of burnt antifreeze and burt rubber.

Has anyone else experienced this? I assumed that any overspray would have burnt off by now but I have had the car since late October and I still notice this after moderate to hard acceleration.

Anyone without the underspray notice a smell after an acceleration?

Thanks for the replies!

There was another thread where someone was talking about the same smell... how many miles do you have on your car?

My car stunk for the first 2000 miles. Dealer told me it was the exhaust/chemicals burning off that they use to preserve a car while it is sitting.

Yeah I think that this is a common issue for many Gs. On both of my coupes I had a burny smell although not as dramatic as some have explained. But it probably wouldn't hurt to stop by the dealer and let them take a whiff while that smell is occuring.

Probably not a bad idea. Cheers
