Didn't I warn you about 417? I had a horrible experience with 417... My advice is to go to Tony Graham in Bells Corners and ask for Chris B.

Well I just found out my connection no longer works there. Didn't want to waste a trip for nothing.

May I ask which dealer you got it from? I want to take a trip there for mine. Is yours lease or purchased?

hi, can you please let me know which dealer you got 4500+3500 off from?

i'm not sure but it looks like there are still savings to be had.

for a G37 sport 6MT, with premium package
in the states,
invoice is $36.3k according to costco.com
MSRP is $39.7k
http://www.costcoauto.com/research/b...?trimid=291849
i'm getting quoted $36.2k USD from one dealer, so after CDN tax, NAFTA 6.1%, riv fees, etc. it'll be around $43.5k CAD on the road.

in canada, MSRP is $51k
if i can get it with the discounts you got, it'll be $43k, + tax, which equals $48.5 CAD on the road.

so there's still around $5k savings...no?

Just a suggestion...

I think perhaps some of the numbers being posted here may not be comparatively true in the sense that we may not be all comparing apples to apples. Some are reporting $6250 off msrp, some with $8,000 off msrp. Are these a G37, G37"S" or fully loaded? If you are quoting a G37"S" do you consider MSRP to be $49,950 or $51,645 (because freight is a requirement).

I think we should post our pre-tax (since we live in diff. provinces) bottom line "on-the-road" price... meaning what is the price after licensing, freight, pdi, gas tax has been added and all your discounts have been substracted.

Maybe, I'll start...
My best price is a non-negotiable VPP price of $43,324 + tax. For a G37"S" (no navi).

I think the above is easier to compare than saying, I am getting the vehicle for dealer invoice ($45,500 = $4,450 under MSRP) minus another $1,200 VPP discount minus $4,500 Infiniti cash incentive, for a grand total of $10,150 off MSRP + freight, delivery fee etc...

I agree with you. I wouldn't mind if you can list the residual value and the lease rate if possible. Thanks.

fair enough.
i got a g37S with tech package of 3900.
Sooo i got / paid the following

a) G37S : $49,999
b) Tech : $3,900
c) Tint from dealer : $400 value so they claim - Free
d) Lock nuts - Free
e) ID Auto Anti-Theft etching - Free

1) Discount of $4,500 for cash-buy
2) Discount of $3,500 through negotiation (Note that it might be difficult to get $3500 because i know someone who works there and i test drove and bought on the same day, which was the day before the long weekend* get the drift ?)

All in all i paid $54,200 including 5% GST and 8% PST, Air condition tax, registration, etc. however insurance is a different story for me =(

Guess you can work it backwards if you like.
btw. i was working with a few dealers from the states at the same time which was really hard to deal with over email and phone. at the end the variance between buying from the states and buying in canada was only less than $3000 for me, so it was not worth importing it. (i opted to get it shipped instead of driving it over with summer slicks = sucide on highway)
.
also i dealt with the general sales manager directly, told him exactly what i wanted and he said i wanted to rip him off. lolz.

I found the buy process easy, just email the internet department (not the same as the salesmen) with the price you want & they'll say yes or no. Internet departments don't work on commission as a %, they get commission for volume sales.

I do agree that recently, the savings from buying a Infiniti in the US has dropped a lot (it may not be worth it anymore).

Ok, so working backwards this is what you paid:

$54,200 tax incl. - on the road
So before 13% tax you paid $47,964
If you substract the $3,900 navi you paid $44,064
This is a damn good deal for non-VPP program purchase. You only paid $724 more than VPP.

VPP program purchase is below for G37"S" (no navi)

Dealer Invoice = $45,500

+ Freight, PDI, gas tax = $1,695

- VPP discount = $1,200

- Incentive = $4,500

Plus 2.5% and delivery charge = $1,845

= $43,340 (+ 13% tax = $48,974)

Further to my post above, I should have clarified than VPP swings two ways:

1. For Business Associates of Nissan/Infiniti
2. For Nissan/Infiniti employees

I personally fit into category 1 (business associates) and my above quote was the VPP for business associates. I failed to mention above that VPP for category 2 (Nissan/Infiniti employees) is even better since they don't have to pay the $1,845 delivery charge of 2.5% - so they essential get a G37"S" for $41,495 + tax.

So based on this information we can conclude that the best deal is obviously to be a Nissan/Infiniti employee (or family member), the second best deal would be to work for a qualifying Nissan/Infiniti business associate company. If you want to find out if you do qualify click on the link below and type in the company name that you work for --> http://www.vppcanada.ca/search.psp

Finalized the deal over the weekend!

I wanted to thank everyone who responded to the thread, to my PM's, and to my e-mails. i.e. vince, hp_john, psyh, loki123 (I see some of you are on RFD as well, I'm on there but with a different username)

Note: All my calculations below are based on the taxes in Ontario (5% GST, 8% PST), and FX rate as of March 10 on xetrade.com

2008 G37 Sport 6MT in Ivory Pearl with
- Premium Package
- Illuminated Kickplates
- Coloured splash guards
- Trunk mat
- Cargo net

MSRP = $40,395 USD (including $715 dest. charge)

Dealer Invoice = $36,926 USD (per Costco website and Edmunds.com)

Price paid (out the door) = $36,426 USD ($500 below invoice)
(waived all extra fees like $250 admin fee, $7.50 fee on tires, and even DMV in-transit permit)

Total cost of the car by buying in USA (including 0.994589 USD/CAD FX conversion via xetrade.com, 8% PST, NAFTA 6.1%, 5% GST, RIV fee, A/C, $200 for DRL's) = $43,990 CAD
(I'm driving it up from NYC, and I get to expense the gas to my company though, so I didn't include that cost )

Since I'm converting my money using xetrade.com, depending on how the FX rate swings this week, I may be able to do a bit better or worse.

Best price scenario in Canada, with $4,500 dealer rebate off MSRP, another $3000 off from negotiations, and including 5% GST, 8% PST = $51,031 CAD ($7,041 more than importing from USA)

Best price scenario in Canada, including VPP business associate discount and all discounts mentioned in the line above = $48,974 (per Loki123, and is $4,984 more than importing from USA)

I wanted to lower the cost even more by getting one without the extra options like kickplates, splashguards, trunk mat, and cargo net...but all the dealers I contacted only had G37S IP's with those 4 options preinstalled and listed on the sticker price. I think they pretty much come from the factory like that? To order a new one would take 8-12 weeks, so that wouldn't work for me.

I'm picking up the car on March 29, driving up to Buffalo on March 30 to stay the night, and crossing customs on March 31 first thing in the morning.

Rusty

Has anyone purchased a set of winter rims & tires yet?

If so, would you mind PM'ing me what the specs of the rims were (18x8?, offset?, weight?, did you use spacers? etc.), and how you were able to determine whether it cleared the brakes & calipers?

I'm thinking of buying a set of 18" rims + blizzaks from Tirerack.com, and it'll be around $1100-1200 shipped to my NYC address. From another post on another forum by a Tirerack rep, looks like Tirerack.com guarantees 100% that it will clear the brakes.

Good to hear another successful import!

Don't forget to send your docs to the border ahead of time! But of course you knew that if you've visited the RFD forum...

Looks like there are more and more Torontonians with the G, we could organize a meet if winter would just go away (25cm of snow over the weekend... gosh)!
