Hello so on Facebook there is a 2011 g37xs for $4,100 with 117,000 miles rebuilt title.
i check the VIN on a vin check website and it appears it was in a accident and totaled. It was sold in auction in 2016 for $3,400. I have asked the Facebook seller what was wrong to be a rebuilt title, he said Fender and front bumper was replaced and that everything runs and works smoothly I haven’t got to test drive it and I know obviously that would be the clear answer but the car is 2 hours away so I would like so advice if it’s even worth seeking the vehicle. I have provided a picture of the damage from the accident and after pictures now after repair I don’t know much about cars but this price seems hard to pass up for mileage. Is there damage something someone would be worried about I don’t know if that’s a type of accident to permanently screw the car up.
The front looks like a totally different shade of white, I don't expect the car was fixed that well. Depends what you want from the vehicle as if it runs and drives fine it's a good amount of car for the money, but it should be a car you plan to run into the ground as you will struggle hard to sell it later on.
I bought my g37 off copart. Runs and drives amazing. Got hit in the rear and bent the structure a little to the point it would be thousands to fix. That's how cars get totaled for what are effectively minor hits.
Driver side wheel is pushed back (similar to mines)
It's possible to have alignment issues in the future.
Being that it's an X it's possible that this negative caster will rip front axles over time.
The price is decent, the hood gap is not.
If the vehicle is solid then it's a good price but something you truly will never know.
That's the wrong front bumper, with aftermarket headlights, both likely chosen to save $$$ on the repair. Clearly there wasn't a lot of skill at the shop that tried to make this road-worthy again. Alignment issues, and hilariously bad paint match, wow.
This thing is a hard pass, IMO. Doesn't get much harder.
Since the OP doesn't know much about cars, I'd suggest he talk to his insurance agent first, to make sure what kind of coverage he can get for a totaled G. I also see the paint and bodywork problems others have mentioned, and would suggest the OP PAY for a full mechanical assessment if s/he decides to proceed with a purchase. On the other hand, if they decide to give this one a pass, I think that might be a good decision too.
Buying a car like this comes with risks. It's important to check that there's no hidden damage beyond the fender and bumper replacements mentioned by the seller. Since the car is two hours away, consider getting advice from fred beans ford of doylestown customer service on pre-purchase inspections or find a qualified mechanic closer to the car's location to examine it thoroughly. This step can help ensure that you don't encounter any surprises after the purchase.
